Girl In The City (2016)

This series will extract the hidden laughter and smile which you manage to always hold back and will relate to you on so many levels. I find it quite fascinating as director sits in the back seat and takes control of the story in a way he wants viewers to see. Yes there are the some usual clichés and also not so prospective acting that you expect but these both will surely make up of it by their ardor and you would find yourself hooked on to the series and of course it was their prerogative to get season 2 and to be honest I was surprised and shocked with the development from the two season and the inexplicable episodes. It isn't an intriguing thriller that will keep you guessing, no it is rather a story which will make you start reminiscing your good 'ol days. Watch it and you would experience an different feeling all together.

The story of a talented, hardworking girl surfing through the city of her dreams and achieving the goals she has set for herself. Meera Sehgal is an aspiring fashion designer, working on an internship in Mumbai, at a fashion house. She wants to give out her talents to the world and establish herself. However, her dad, an army officer, is holding up a deadline for her to come back to Dehradun and start her own business there after 3 days. The rest of season 1 is all about the various circumstances she has to put up with, like her bestfriend, Samira, who overspends, her other roommate, Kartik, who develops feelings for her, her designer boss, Avan, who is a cliched set-backer and the Chief, Rohan, who is just weird.

In a typical The Devil Wears Prada style, all the characters go about their business to make life chaotic for Meera. She has to make a ton of difficult decisions during the course of her stay and has to prove her mettle, through and through. Her strength and content of character makes her stand out from the crowd always and rise to the top.

It's a #feelGood series with an amazing cast. Mithila Palkar is just fabulous in essaying the role of the bubbly Meera. The circumstances are realistic, though the climax is predictable. The sets are simple and depict the middle-class style effortlessly. The direction is spectacular.

Girl in the city is narrated from the point of view of lead character Meera (Mithali palkar) , mostly exuberant, came from a small town of Dehradun to the city of dreams Mumbai to make her place in the haute couture world. this show reminds of movie "Devil Wears Prada" , quite consciously creators tried to add a pinch of Meryl Streep's Miranda Lambert in every character of Meera s office. Follow her on the journey of excitement , dreams , denials and rise. Some physical comic scenes are cliche. It is a must watch for people in fashion.
