Black-ish is a wonderful show that uses satire to deal with the problems of a black family in a white dominated country. It pokes fun at the daily lives of the Johnson family who are the only black family in their neighborhood. With its fresh and funny plot, the show indirectly instigates the ongoing and past social and political happenings. The show's name is a funny (or more of a punny) way of destroying the certain associations that the society believes are connected to "black" people. It compels the viewers to question the authenticity of many stereotypes associated with the blacks. The show will please you and maybe even make you contemplate about how your racial identity has shaped your perceptions just as the Johnson family does.

Me Before You is a movie adaptation of the book of the same title by author Jojo Moyes. Just like any book adaptation, Me Before You has it's ups and downs. Searching for a job, a British lass Louisa (played by our very own Khaleesi Emilia Clarke) comes to work as caretaker Will who is wealthy young man paralyzed after an unfortunate motorcycle accident. The two are as similar as to oil and water. While Louise is an absent-minded, scatty and endearing and absolutely lovable, Will is the complete opposite. Hes is despicable, resentful and toxic. Me Before You brings you a tear-jerking love story of the two who find comfort and love in their darkest moments.

Santa Clarita Diet is about a happy, suburban couple who experience a major lifestyle change when the wife (played by Drew Barrymore) begins to acquire a taste for human flesh. The story is more of a comparison of the family 'before' and 'after' Barrymore turns into a zombie who can't keep her cravings to herself. While the show may seem a bit overacted and exaggerated at some points, it's dark comedy is definitely entertaining. The cast member's efforts make up for any non-nonsensical scenes. Drew Barrymore is her usual brilliant self which is just another reason to watch.

The Handmaid's Tale introduces us to Gilead, a place where when three bells strike, it's time for a "salvaging". If you love drama, sex and violence, then it's the right show for you. The Handmaid's Tale establishes a patriarchal America where a religious organisation holds true power of all. It takes us into the lives of the various handmaids of Gilead, pushed into subordination and forced into acts that will shake your core. Offred (played by Elizabeth Moss) is our lead heroine who plays a handmaid in this world, coerced into being a concubine for a family of a higher status. All in all, The Handmaid's Tale is a multifaceted, dark dystopian narrative of what the world may soon become.

"Appearances are often deceiving", said Aesop. Big Little Lies exploits the question of what and who's real. Though a slow burn, Big Little Lies takes you into twisty yet stunning coastlines of the Pacific into the town of Monterrey and into the lives of the top "mothers" of the town who aren't all that they appear to be. When you start watching the show, it may seem just like any other cliched melodramatic female rivalry but as the story progresses, it becomes so much more. A story wrapped in a murder mystery; it will keep you leaning towards the screen wondering about the murder. While the show may cover the most basic and well-worn themes, Big Little Lies is a show nothing like you've seen before, with it's tangled web of gossipy characters and mystery slowly unfurling as the show advances.
