Popularly known as “Is pyaar ko kya naam doon”, it is an Indian soap that is purely set on a romantic note. It talks about a couple who breaks the financial barriers to find themselves fallen head over heels in love with each other. The story involves Arnav Singh Raizada, a self made business tycoon and Kushi Kumari Gupta, a conservative but very interesting girl who cross paths with each other in a love hate relationship. Initially Arnav doesnt turn out to be very fond of Kushi but she tries very hard to win his heart with her quirks and skills, mostly leading to an embarrassing scene. She is quite the talkative one while he speaks mostly through his eyes and silences people with a single high pitched word. Just like any other typical Indian movie/show, they connect with each other on a spiritual and most probably a “magical” level because the scenes where he turns around to look at her while she attempts to think of something about him is quite close to a telepathic effect that cannot be explained. The cool breeze flowing at their faces when they catch a glimpse of each other or the way they stare while she “accidentally” falls into his arms can be considered dramatic enough to qualify this as an Indian soap. The story also involves a funny aunt and a loving family who always looks out for them. Eventually, Arnav falls for Khushi and also turns out to be more expressive over days. They realise they are made for each other and there is no point in harboring hate. Despite a lot of family adventure and action, the ending was predictable on what it is supposed to be.

This 3 season show has touched us, made us laugh and feel happy in the end. This is everything a show that falls into the Drama genre does. The show beautifully talks about an autistic kid, Sam who with his family and friend(s) overcomes the most challenging barrier of a kid in the spectrum - finding a partner. This high school kid is provided with all the necessary privileges - a decent school, a loving family, a supportive friend, a guiding therapist and on the whole, a good environment. His younger sister is an aspiring athlete and takes care of him all her life. The need to break out from this motherly role, she ends up hurting the family, especially Sam. The family also encounters a lot of distractions, both minor and major, but the story is all about how they overcome it. The story also shows how a person doesn’t require a lot of friends to keep oneself happy. Sam’s only friend at work is all he needs and always looks out for him, despite his crazy actions. This show teaches people on how a kid in the autistic spectrum needs to be treated and handled and also shows how a family needs to sacrifice and stay united, irrespective of the backlogs. This is definitely a binge-watch worth television series and leaves the audience on a happy note.

An insightful love story of the modern world that made the audience feel weird and also weep. It reflects the future generation where normalcy in romance and life is least expected. It depicts how a robot is also worthy of being loved and that, might turn out to be the future of our planet. The story revolves around a man Theodore Twombly, who works as an employee of a company that writes personalized love letters for special occasions. He believes in love and the power of it in an eternal perspective but later when his girlfriend decides to leave him, he ends up in a sad, closed space, still continuing his job. He also ends up lacking creativity in writing letters because he doesn’t feel love anymore. He thereby purchases a well-developed AI operating system to help with it. The voice in the system names herself Samantha and proves to be worthy of her presence to him. They spend a lot of time together and the relationship becomes more intimate. Theodore falls in love with Samantha and never discloses about it to his friends. Despite a series of misunderstandings and fights, they still look out for each other and Theodore forgets the fact that Samantha is not a real person. He also learns that everyone with access to AI Samantha has fallen in love which triggers his human senses and labels her as disloyal. One day, Theodore becomes aware that all the AI operating systems are being shut down and Samantha will be too, which puts him through the worst of situations and finally let Samantha go. He further meets his friend Amy, who has also been in a relationship with an AI, and both comfort each other for their terrible losses. The movie ends with a question on whether the two human beings with similar love stories, Theodore and Amy reunite or not. This movie is an interpretation of the nearest future we all are about to face. As we can already witness lonely people engrossed in electronic gadgets, the day where they fall in love with one is not very far. Although the movie beautifully depicts the need for love and affection in every individual, it also ends on a very frightful note because a future with an OS partner is not fun to think of.

A movie that speaks about the life of the legendary actress Savitri, is an emotional and a visual treat to the audience. Be it the visuals, costumes, or the nostalgia, the movie has won everyone’s hearts. It takes back an old school person to the time where cinema was evolving rapidly, the 50s and 60s. The struggle each actor has to go through to earn name and fame in the industry is not depicted but is understood from this movie. The movie begins with Savitri’s poverty-stricken childhood and the discovery of the inborn talent that brings her to the stage and later, to the big screen. Although she faces several backlogs during the course, she climbs back up boldly to establish herself in the industry. The real-life situations when her talent left the crew spellbound were also a part of the movie. But the movie mainly revolves around her love life with the famous actor Gemini Ganesan, who helps her enter the industry with a simple photoshoot. He later leaves his wife to marry Savitri but goes on further to cheat on her and thereby, leaving Savitri in pieces. Things go downhill from there and all her property and fame goes down with it. She is left to suffer but she still holds her values dear and helps the needy despite her condition. Her alcohol addiction soon puts her to deathbed and later, kills her. This movie also involves two reporters who discover her true story and brings her immaculate personality to spotlight. They also fall in love by the end of the movie which is said to be inspired by the love life of the personality they covered the story for. Although the movie has done their best as a biopic, the presence of a few fictional characters and scenes made it purely into a commercial piece. Not sticking to the facts also created tension among the families of the stars. This movie shows the legendary actor Ganesan as a man who spends most of his time around Savitri while a majority of the population are aware of the busy lifestyle of a popular actor. Overall, the movie was a visual treat but with better relevance to reality, it could have been a magnum opus.

Super Deluxe is one of the best dark humour movies ever made in India cinema. It has been well-praised by several critics for its genuine humour and realistic touch. The movie also throws light upon social issues that are barely spoken in society. Most of the societal taboos like adultery, harassment, porn addiction, etc are beautifully depicted in this masterpiece of a movie. The movie talks about the lives of 3 different people, all stuck in a circle of a conservative society and tries hard to break out of it and ends up committing mistakes during the process of it. The first story talks about a wife who involves herself into adultery and during the wake of it, kills her secret boyfriend unintentionally. Her husband is informed about it and both together try to dispose of the corpse during which they rediscover their lost affection. The second one is about a boy who is addicted to pornography and desires for sex limitlessly but when he discovers that his mother secretly earns bread for the house as a porn actor, he attempts to murder her out of rage and ends up harming himself. The third story is about a conservative family where the father of the boy child escapes to Bombay and returns home as a transgender woman after several years. This leaves the wife disappointed but the naive little boy enjoys the father’s company and the family finally ends up accepting his sexuality. The most interesting part of the story is that they are all interwoven and denotes how one’s actions end up affecting another’s life. On the contrary, this movie fails to explain certain concepts and their relevance. There are also a few scenes that make extensive use of cuss language that ends up making the audience uncomfortable. Overall, the movie is a one time watch worthy one as it explains different aspects of society and a common man’s view on it.
