All roars and clashes save an otherwise predictable story and a sluggish direction.
The film's poster reads: "Beimann Pitega, Corruption Mitega". This is true in respect of the storyline of the film. But does that really motivate you to watch this film? Well, I would say NO. The film's trailer promised an edge of the seat thriller, with an interesting mouse and cat game. Even the casting was also very promising. All these might have worked, but the storyline has been quite predictable and sluggish. John Abraham has been in his best form until now. First Parmanu, & now Satyamev Jayate. He has been high on patriotic themes. Manoj Bajpayee as always is delightful to watch. He has been engaging in all of his performances. But this time, their performances are let down by a lazy writing. The film will promise you all sorts of clashes and roars, but without any logic. Milan Milap Zaveri's direction is quite lazy and sleepy.
The only perfect sequence in the film is Dilbar song.

But if you are looking for a masala movie, with all commercial elements, this is that type of watch for you. But beware, you might be able to watch it more than one.

Loaded with vfx. Packed with performances. Delivering a message.
This is a non-spoiler review of 2.0, a 2018 film starring Rajnikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in pivotal roles.
VFX in Indian Cinema has evolved a long way up. Starting from Ra.one, which met with universal acclaim for its special effects, to 2.0, which has shown that VFX in Indian cinema is no more thrashy or sloppy. This film was announced on a budget of 450 crores(which subsequently increased more), and this thing drew a lot of attention. Everyone was excited for the film, and it looks like the wait of almost 3 years was worth of something. It is a sequel of 2010 film Enthiran, although there's nothing in common between both the movie, apart from Rajnikanth and a bit of the story.
Now let's get on the film.
Plotline:
It continues from the point where Enthiran left, with Chitti, the robot dismantled and has moved on. Dr. Vaseegaran, the scientist who made Chitti, has made another robot, Nila(Amy Jackson), just for assistive work. All is going well until a threat bloomes over the state, with all the cellphones being vanished and a giant, monstrous bird flying over the city and attacking its people. How Chitti and Vaseegaran deal with it, and why the bird is attacking everyone , forms the rest of the story.
There's a very good social message dealt in the film, which can be connected universally. It also provides a good conformity to Kumar's character in the film, and you can completely symphatize with his actions.
I think his character was being considered as the main in the film by the writers. They have paid much attention to his character. The plot has been kept very simple, with not much of science involved with it, so that people can understand and relate to it. There's a bit of humour in between to ease the moment, as the script has been kept very tight and it does not sways away from the main plot as there's no melodrama, romance or songs in between. It catches up to the plot and stays right on the track until the last minute. That's a major advantage of dealing with a film on an international level.
Acting:
All the cast has done a great job, with special praises to Rajni Sir and Akshay Kumar.True to say but, Akshay Kumar might have outshined every other antagonist of Indian Cinema. He beautifully displays each and every emotion of his character, and you will feel that he doesn't have any motive of ruling or destroying the world without any reason or just to show his valour. He has a reason to do so(which I will not talk about here as it's a non-spoiler review), and the emotional flashback shown reveals the reason.
His dedication is praiseworthy. The hours he spent on the makeup might have irritated anyone. But the patience bears a sweet fruit. He got a strong foot in Tamil cinema with his role.
Rajni Sir is as ever fantastic. He has nailed all his roles in this film. It doesn't look that he is over 60 years of age. As Vaseegaran, Chitti, 2.0 and a special charatcer( not to talk about here), he is delightful to watch. Hats off to his dedication and style.
Amy Jackson as Nila is also good. She has been there in the script just for easing the moment and providing some humour. Her supporting role to Vaseegaran is good.
Rest of the cast has done a decent job.
Technical Aspects:
Visual Effects are jaw-dropping and a landmark of Indian Cinema. All the wait of 3 years has turned out to be a visual spectacle. The money invested over this film has proved to be a good investment. Sound Editing is also good. The modulation in Akshay KUmar's voice is good to hear. All the fight scenes are a visual treat. The climax, according to me, is the heart and soul of the visual aspect of the film.
Direction, Screenplay & Music:
Shankar is the gem of Indian cinema. He chose a social topic and made a whole film on it. No flaws in his direction. His visualization is hard to match and find. All his hard work and dedication is clearly evident in the film. His tight and gripping screenplay is the soul of the film. It always stays on the plot. Although he could have added more humour and shelved off some. But still, he did a great job. It's good to see that Indian Cinema is not around the corner for those melodramas with all dance and ssongs in every 15-20 mins. Shankar has touched the hollywood level.
Since there are no songs in the movie , apart from the one in the end credits, so the thing left is Background Score. Rahman has given good score, which fits the scene , but I feel that it won't be enough to give goosebumps. It could have been better, but it was good.
Verdict:
You can thoroughly enjoy this visual flick to the fullest. And to the more only in 3D. Kumar and Rajni will always be around the corner to impress you, and the visual effects will leave you awestruck.

Daring, Refreshing, Violent
This is a spoiler free review of Mirzapur, an Amazon prime original released on 16th november, 2018.

Digital content has shown the other side of talent from India. Be it the Netflix original Sacred Games, or Ghoul, or any other , they have exposed the audiences to a whole new content on a whole new level.
And so has Mirzapur, the fifth prime original crime drama from India. It was being touted as prime' answer to Sacred Games, which we'll talk about later. Starring Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Vikrant Massey and Divyendu Tripathi in prominent roles, this one has all that it needs-stellar cast, gangster drama.

Plotline:
Akhandanand Tripathi, aka Kaleen Bhaiya(Pankaj Tripathi) is the Bahubali of the city Mirzapur. He has a son, Mulchandra Tripathi aka Munna Bhaiya(Divyendu Sharma) who has a sort of throne desiring mindset. Two brother, Guddu(Ali Fazal) and Bablu(Vikrant Massey) get involved in this crime sh*t by fate. The fights, conspiracy, bullets, guns and the power-packed dialogues, form the rest of the story which I won't be discussing over here, as it is a non-spoiler review.

So basically the series is a gangster family drama, with a lot of bloodshed and internal conspiracy. Each member has its own mindset and you'll just keep guessing what evilness is going on in their minds. You might admire them, and you might hate them. But on the whole, you'll love them. Guddu and Bablu have their own compulsions, which attract them into this drama. They both are lovable characters. The series does not revolve around only one character, but it keeps jumping, from one character to other , in an intersting narrative, and sometimes quirky.

Acting:
Pankaj Tripathi is phenominal. Being portrayed as the main, he does his part well. His facial expressions and the ferociousness in his eyes makes him really look like a Bahubali. Divyendu Sharma is a true maniac, and you'll just love his villainess. His character doesn't really have something that you could conform with, but the way he has portrayed his character is just a delight. He delivers his dialogues effectively, and it is a delight to listen the way he speaks his abuses. The desi-ness in his voice is reaaly awesome.

Vikrant and Ali as the brothers are also phenomenal. They both did their jobs well. Ali's craziness was clearly depicted from his voice, and he never make it feel boring. The other cast also did a decent job. Though their role might have been small, but their characters were equally important to the plot.

Other sections were also handled good, but you might not love them. The direction, cinematography, background music, visuals, prosthetics were well managed. I really liked the way the 4-minute single take scene was shot. The coordination from all departments was clearly visible in the scene, and I must appreciate the director for his creativity.

Verdict:
Overall the series was a fun watch. The characters are lovable, acting is top-class, storyline is a bit predictable, but it had no issues. I would recommend to watch this series, just for fun, as there's nothing socially relevant shown in the series. And do mind, it's an 18+ watch, so don't forget that at all.

Wakanda lives upto the hype
This is a SPOILER review of Black Panther, starring Chadwik Boseman, Micheal B. Jordan and Andy Serkis.

Marvel Studios has always confined itself to America, with a majority of its citizens being shown as American Nationals. But this time, it breaks the barrier and travel to Africa, to the highly reclusive nation of Wakanda, with the Black Panther as its King. I really liked the thing that Marvel casted majority of the black cast for this film. I really loved everything about this film. The visuals, themes, casting, action scenes, just everything.

Plotline:
[WARNING] This post has a lot of spoilers, so be aware. If you have'nt watched the film yet, go see it and then read the review.

The plot starts off in 1991, with the king T'Chaka killing his brother N'Jobu, over his act of betrayal with his country as he helped Ulyses Klau to get Vibranium from Wakanda. He did all this because he was in complete opposition with the discrimination done towards the black community. Moreover, he had refused to come with his brother. Years later, when T'Chaka's son T'Challa reigns the throne, he is challanged by his brother N'Jdaka or, you can call him Erik Killmonger for the throne. Later how he fights him forms the rest of the story.

The setting in which the film is set is quite original. The racial discrimination against anyone would have arsoned him, and here N'Jobu's motives are also quite clear. Provide arms to those who are weak. It was really a moving scene where his partner James, who was a Wakandan undercover betrays him, and when T'Chaka stabs his own brother, leaving the boy all alone. The motives behind Killmonger's actions are quite clear and reasonable, and you'll surely conform with his motives. He has his own thoughts on how Wakanda should be ruled, which are in complete contrast to those of T'Challa. It looks like Marvel has come up to reform its villains, rather than portraying them as those who want to end the world. You know, sort of apocalypse thing. They are getting equal weightage as that of titular characters. Killmonger was shown more as of an antagonist, rather than a villain. Ulyses Klau had its share, but I felt he should'nt have been killed. He could proved a menacing face of a villain in the future. All other characters had their share, with was apt in the storyline. This film showed more of Killmonger, rather than T'Chaka.

Acting:
Hats off to Micheal B. Jordan. He was Magnifique as the antagonist, Erik Killmonger. I think no one else could have done justice to this role, as he was such a complex character. At one time you would agree with him, but at the other , you would hate him. Micheal effectively played his part. The scene where he talks to his father would just move anyone. This is the latest example of the film, where you will love the villain rather than to hate him. If such a thing happens, success is guaranteed. Andy Serkis as the menacing Ulyses Klau was also great, though I really felt that he should have been given more screen time, as he is such a fantastic actor.
Boseman was also good. He did his job well, and I'm happy to see that. Letia Wright as Shuri was also good. She helped relieve the immense tension involved in the story by her great comic timing. Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluya, Forest Whitaker, Winston Buke, all were great to see to.

Music:
Ludwig Gorannson did a splendid job, by creating a soundtrack pure of African Culture. The beats in the score were just lovely to listen to, and it was just like to get immersed in the culture. Kendrick Lamar's
soundtrack album was also great, though not all songs were included in the film. And it was a good decision. Whatever was there was apt to the feel and scene.

Technical aspects:
Visual effects were a delight in this film. Be it the grandeur of Wakanda, or the ambience of the coronation ceremony, all was a delight to see to. The sound editing, mixing, film editing, all the other aspects were handled well.

Verdict:
Since this a spoiler review, I could just praise the film and its efforts. This Marvel Studios was a delight, and IMAX could have been the only way in which one could have really enjoyed this film. Not that I'm saying that normal theatres are waste, but just you could have 'felt' this film. All the cast did a splendid job, and special praises to the director, Ryan Coogler, without whose efforts this film could not have been possible.

Transcending through space and time, straight to the heart
This is a spoiler free review of Interstellar, starring Matthew McCaughney, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chaistain, Mackenzie Foy.

What comes to your mind when you hear the word-Science Fiction? Action? Visuals? Vfx?
And what if I add a term, Drama? Emotion?
What would you first think of?
I'd say Interstellar, and only Interstellar. That's the basic premise I could form for this film.
A visual Extravaganza made with the right amount of visuals, drama, and most importantly love. This film beautifully captures the life between a father and his daughter. Christopher Nolan has yet again not failed to surprise us with his new space venture, that has many stories, all concluding down to one.

Plotline:
The film is set in a futuristic world, which does not have large buildings , and flying cars or very advanced tech. No. The setting is more of an apocalyptic one, where the Earth has stopped sustaining crops, due to frequent sandstorms. Crops can't grow well now. The warning has rung that Earth is slowly becoming inhabitable. The world needs no more engineers. It's all about time when humans become extinct. So NASA recruits Cooper(played by Matthew), to do an interstellar travel through a wormhole that appeared 48 years ago, and you know, save the world. The adventures form the crest of the story.

The storyline is a very basic one, but the scientific terms might tangle you. But it does'nt harm the film in any way. An apocalyptic setting, makes it more interesting and you will not feel bored for even a moment. I really loved the way emotional attachment between a father and his daughter is depicted. This father-daughter setting is more prevelant in the story rather than the apocalypse or the interstellar travel.

Direction:
Christopher Nolan has yet again delivered a masterpiece. Just like you loved The Dark Knight, Inception, you'll again love this one. I think I don't have anything to say more on this. You'll comprehend me when you watch this flick.

Music:
Hanz Zimmer has yet again proved his mettle of giving life to the film. After successful collaborations with Nolan on Inception ,The Dark Knight, you can add Interstellar to this list. Each second of score fits perfectly to the scene and the emotion it wants to convey. I really liked the score of the Cornfield Chase scene, and the ending almost brought me to tears. All praises to Zimmer.

Performances:
The whole does a good job. Matthew and Jessica are the main cast, and they deserve the real praise. Mackenzie was great as a kid, Anne's role was also good, though I personally think she should have been given more significance. Micheal Caine was also good. All the cast did a stellar job.

Technical Aspects:
Visual Effects had a great role in the storyline, and they did justice to the film. They were just OUTSTANDING. Film editing was also good. Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, and all the other technical aspects were handled well.Shooting with the IMAX cameras was a good decision, as it did full justice to the film. The whole technical crew deserves a praise.

Verdict:
I would recommend to watch this drama, not just for the visuals or the performances, but also for the emotions that were effectively conveyed.

Open all your senses up.
This is a Spoiler-free review of the movie Andhadhun, released on 5th October, 2018 and starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu , Radhika Apte.
Bollywood hasn't been much prone to crime or drama thrillers. We have always experienced family drama, or comedy drama, or those nostalgic romantic dramas. We might also count action thrillers, in recent times and earlier also. Although there are quite a few thrillers, but a handful of them might have garnered positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike. Some examples of them being Badlapur, Johnny Gaddar, Drishyam, Special 26 and many more.
And a recent addition to this list is Andhadhun, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, while Tabu, Radhika Apte can be seen in supporting roles.
Now, talking about the plot. I would'nt give away any spoilers.
The story is all about a blind artist, who gets involved in a series of crime evnets which has been dealt in a quirky way, quite effectively. Ayushmann plays the artist , while Radhika Apte, her lover, and Tabu , I can't tell more than this.

Ayushmann has proved his mettle by potraying a blind artist. He is perfect in every scene. Looks like bollywood has ventured into that era, where small town lads are proving their mettle. Now bollywood is not just about the Khans, it's about the content. Radhika is also good.

Tabu is MAGNIFIQUE. I must say, she is the real soul and life of the film. She deserves a laud.

Coming to the direction, Sriram is outstanding. He should get more limelight and should make such more gems. His direction is perfect. The screenplayand writing is really great. They do not fail to create a masterpiece thriller and they deserve the praise. By adding some humour to the film, they make this film a near masterpiece.

Amit Trivedi is an underrated gem of Indian music. His scores are good to ears, and they will impress you.
Be it the songs or the background score, all are praiseworthy and fresh to listen to.
Conclusion: You can't just miss thrillers like this.
MY RATING:
Story: 9.5/10
Acting:10/10
Music:10/10
Direction:9/10
Overall Verdict:9.5/10

Epic conclusion you can't afford to miss.
Over the decades, Marvel Studios has gone a long way far, starting from Iron Man(2008) and has arrived at its 19th production, Avengers:Infinity War. This film stars its main iconic characters, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk and many more, with the addition of the badass villain, Thanos, who has now finally come into limelight after having being appeared briefly in previous Marvel films. The basic plot deals with the quest of Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy to stop Thanos from acquiring all the six infinity stones and destroying the universe.
Apart from this, it has has a lot of other sub-plots and a lot of twists which subsequently add to the masala of the film. Now , let us have a word on the performances. Josh Brolin as Thanos is truly engaging and he also has the longest screen time in the film. Looks like Marvel is moving forward to give its villain much more prominence than what it has given until now. Every moment Thanos comes on-screen, he steals the show. Josh Brolin has perfectly depicted his persona by potraying Thanos by his motion capture performance. [SPOILER] The scene where Thanos has to sacrifice his daughter, Gamora , gives Thanos an arc to his character and Josh Brolin, an Academy Award Nomination. LOL. Other actors are also good. Zoe Saldana as Gamora has second most screen time after Thanos, and her importance is also equally important in the storyline, which has been perfectly shown and equally well performed. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth , all have their time and they do well.
Now, coming on the Vfx and Background scores. The visual effects rendered in the film are just MIND-BLOWING, be it the motion capture animation ,or the battle scenes, its just amazing. The background score has been handled by Alan Silvestri and fits well to the scene.
Every aspect of the film has been well managed, and I would recommend to watch it for fun. But if you're a Marvel fan, you just can't resist it.
My rating : 9/10.
The film ends in a cliffhanger, and you'll be extremely excited for its sequel, which arrives almost an half an year later , from now. #superhero #actionpacked #visuallyStunning #comicBased
