Padman….
This movie is difficult to review objectively as a film Vs a social message.
As a social message, this is a very important film in Bollywood because it fearlessly talks about issues that are taboo even in urban India.
The original events this film is based upon happened in the south of India, but this film is set in Madhya Pradesh to be more accessible to the Hindi going audience. Which is fine, nothing much is lost in that translation from south to the middle of India, taboo is taboo.

Direction :
R Balki has done a fantastic job of bringing out this social drama and it is not as preachy or annoying as Toilet ek Prem Katha and somehow shows the lead’s values in a much more subtle way. It also shows how the people in the film as well as the audience of this film might react to the subject of menstruation.

Acting :
Akshay Kumar has somehow transformed himself from the Khiladi to making DAMN good cinema, be it, BABY, Oh My God, or this one, he is truly going the extra mile to be a sensaible actor in an nonsensical industry.
His acting is as expected really really good, he deserves some awards and the audiences full attention to his character’s plight.
Sonam Kapoor is not annoying at all in this film and she shows restraint in her performance making it for a subtle yet realistic depiction of a woman entrepreneur. I don’t know if her character is based on anyone real, but she does a fantastic performance.
The rest of the cast in smaller roles does well too, they are convincing as real life characters and don’t come across as caricatures.

Overall :
This is a well made film, but I am sure this movie will make boys and men squirm in their seats if this is a topic they are not too comfortable about, and that is a good thing. Its high time such social taboos are discarded and logic prevails.

Rating : 8.5 / 10. The film is good, it lacks a bit at times of dramatic tension and problems are sometimes solved too easily. But as a social message film this movie gets 10/10 from me.

Got placed in my all time favs!
In dry state Gujarat, film theaters were also facing dryness at the box office. Since, Padmaavat is not being released in this state, every cinelover or even normal people were waiting for a film to watch in theater. So, in the second month of the year, a film is out starring the most popular actor- Akshay Kumar in the titular role of Padman.

Film is based on true story. Padman is a madman- This is what the villagers think. Because, He cares and thinks for the safety of his wife while she is having a period. He then understands the basic needs for women. How does he invent pads and after that what problems he faces to aware people for using those pads are the questions which will be covered during the film. And this film is the most entertaining film, I repeat, Most entertaining film!

I found Toilet very slow and boring. But, this is super intriguing and paced based film. R. Balki is known for his unusual subjects. He is master in that. So, no doubt in that. Though I feel this film does not show his directorial efforts. But, kudos to him for his brave choices and also for, as of now, his biggest hit till date.

Radhika Apte suits in her character of a village bride. She plays comfortably. Sonam Kapoor has one more hit in her career. Again she shines out, like she was in Bhag Milkha Bhag. She delivers her one of the best performances. Others are good. Balki's film is incomplete without Amitabh Bachchan, so brace yourself before watching his cameo!

Akshay Kumar is the only actor who works for his audience. Now, he is bringing stories which have to be told worldwide. Also, I feel that he is becoming mature towards his acting and choosing subjects. No other actor can pull off this role as beautifully as him. This time I am feeling the vibes of him enjoying this role so much, as he always tries to help someone, especially women, and this character does the same!

Amit Trivedi is known for his western music with cultural touch. You will feel this in Sayaani Song. Title song is good, too. Sweet, simple and suitable music. If you want shayari with simple words or even English words, Kausar Munir is the best lyricist. She can give you Tu Hi Hai from Dear Zindagi, as well as, Aaj Se Tera Ho Gaya in this one.

With claps worthy dialogues, entertaining screenplay, Narmada, New York, IIT Delhi and Akshay Kumar all in one packet, this Padman will satisfy you for sure. The speech at UN by Padman was terrific. His monologue will be remembered for life long!

With mixture of emotions, innocence and determination, anyone can come up with an innovation. Try to think besides yourself. The world is waiting for your invaluable ideas. JanSankhya (Number of people) is more in our country, so does ZahanSankhya (Number of Minds)! Think in the direction of betterment of people. Like Padmashree winner- The Original Padman did.

This is a #trueStory of a simple man named Laxmikant (played by Akshay Kumar) who comes from a small village in MP . He has only one #trueLove that is his wife (played by Radhika Apte). He is worrisome about his wife's unhygenic methods of using dirty cloth during periods. This motivates his to manufacture low priced but high quality sanitary pads which he demonstrate and uses it on himself. This is really #inspiring and #thoughtProvoking because its #againstTheSystem since we live in a country where a woman is always kept behind the veil and topics like menstruation are never discusses even among the women. The director R. Balki has the history of making such #offbeat movies and so he is successful in enlightening the audience once again.

Distant from reality
A movie distant from reality, although based on reality. It could have been a better direction but it still worked for a lot of audience. The plot was different and thought provoking and something that should be talked about in the Indian society. The attempt for a movie of an issue like this is necessary but it could have been pictured to be a little less non nonsensical. It was an entertaining movie for sure but just the kind of intellectual masala movies which work in bollywood. If you are going to watch this only for entertainment purposely and not too seriously, you can go for it. For those looking for more sense in movies and less drama, this will not be their cup of tea.

A must-watch.
The story revolves around a man, who gets concerned for his wife and sisters as they use dirty clothes during periods which might harm their health.
so, he embarks on a journey to find a solution for minimal cost, thus helping lakhs of unprivileged women across our country.
A heart-warming romantic story which has been beautifully directed and picturized.
