The Movie starts way back before independence and has been set up in the backdrop of Wasseypur-1(Dhanbad) and is based on coal mafia their . The movie starts when a band of goons surround a house and start firing and bombarding it. As they are returning back they seea police petrol and fire on them and run away. The scene cuts to pre independence era where Shahid Khan(Jaideeep Ahlawat) uses name of a faceless Qureshi dacoit Sultana and robs trains passing Wasseypur. When Querishis find out this they try to kill him . So Shahid with his family comes to Dhanbad and works under Ramadhir Singh(Tigmanshu Dhulia) in his coal Mines .With time Shahid gains the trust of Ramadhir but he plans to kill Ramadhir and get all his property. But Ramadhir overhears and get him killed. Nasir(Piyush Mishra and Shahid's aid) flees with Shahid's boy before Ramadhir can kill them too. But the goon hired to kill his son lies to Ramadhir that he killed both of them.
As the time passes Shahid'S son Sardar Khan(Manoj Bajpayee)comes to know who killed his father and thus he decides to take revenge and shaves his head till he avenges his father's death.
Now the scene shifts to post independence era Ramadhir has established himself in coal mining through his position, power in trade union. Sardar start working for JP Singh(Ramadhir Singh's son ) and misuse the company.As Ramadhir comes to know about it he finds out that Sardar is son of Shahid.As the power of Sardar increases Ramadhir persuades Sultan Quereshi to kill Sardar and they does so in the climax scene. But it is not the end it is the beginning . Sultan's son are introduced in the movie and they take the lead in second part.
It is a typical action Masala movie yet realistic one no more flying cars , ripping shirts revenge keh ke lunga...
