It's not uncommon to hear "Mumbai is a city, Bombay is an emotion," indeed high on emotions and drama, people of Bombay have a lot of diverse sentiments, some heartwarming others gut-wrenching. City of dreams explores the city beyond the glamour that lures millions in every year, while the city isn't fair to everyone it, everyone isn't fair to the city either.

Drunk with power, Ashish Rao Gaikwad (Siddharth Chandekar), is driven solely by self-interest. He is eager to emerge as the new face of the party after his father's attempted assassination but his sister Poornima Rao Gaikwad (Priya Bapat), actually becomes the one to face serious responsibility. The next character of interest is a conscientious cop whose resolute goodwill to uproot everything unjust in the city has gotten him only transfers to different branches in the past. Now he is on to decoding the mystery of the minister's attempted assassination but wait, there's more, the show also houses fairly interesting subplots of a salesman tired of the job and a sex worker whose wisdom and free spirit surpasses the walls of her profession.

'City of dreams' is a gripping enough tale of many lives that seem unrelated but tied together by the unforgiving city that they thrive in.

City of dreams is a classic truism of gangster tactics and offers nothing new or exciting to look forward to. Set in the year 2015, it follows the story of a prominent political figure Ameya Rao Gaekwad’s family as they set on the journey to get the political seat after the father lays in the state of coma after a futile attempt of assassination on him. In my opinion, the show was stretched on without any rational cause or for that matter, any storyline. The show got repetitive and highly predictable as I watched on. There are many supporting characters to the story but even they could not add much appeal to the experience.

Revolving around the huge political ambitions of the Gaikwad family in the city of Mumbai, with politicians setting their eyes on the coveted seat of 'Dilli', this is a often heard description of the political developments in the badlands of U.P. and Bihar. The change of setting this time acts as a refreshing breeze in the stereotypical drought of the political crime genre, except Sacred Games which was of course brilliant. This show, however, struggles to keep it free of the common banalities that seem to prop up quite often. Overall, a typical political-crime drama. Skip it if you have watched too much of this genre, however, watchable for the enthusiasts.

The plot is badly written with #predictable events happening and potrayal of #obsession is made all throughut the series. there are multiple plots running at the same time in the web series. On one hand one character wants to be the only heir of his parents property and on the other a couple are reluctantly mad in love with each other. It can be said that the work of the actors can be blamed but we need not forget the bad written script.

'City of Dreams' is essentially the story of Poornima (Priya Bapat) and Ashish Rao Gaikwad (Siddharth Chandekar), the two children of Ameya Rao Gaikwad (Atul Kulkarni), who’s a prominent political figure in Maharashtra and has eyes on New Delhi. A failed assassination attempt on the senior Gaikwad, which has rendered him comatose, leads to a polarised power-tussle between the petulant, man-child brother, Ashish, and his suave, thinking and even-tempered sister, Poornima. The assassination attempt is described as ‘flashback style’ by the cops — as a throwback to the 90s, and we see that style sporadically rearing its head all through the show.
The aftermath of the assassination brings the other story arcs into the mainstream narrative. The search for the two assailants brings in the disgraced ‘encounter Wasim’ (Eijaz Khan), a police officer who’s seeking to redeem himself and his vardi. Credited for having cleansed Mumbai of the underworld in the late ‘90s, he now rides his Enfield everywhere, wears aviators and has a network of informants that includes the local butcher and bar dancers, who serve as veritable mines of information. Wasim, at one point, mentions that he was discriminated by the department on account of his religion, but it’s not built upon much. There is also the ‘hooker with a heart of gold’, who goes by the name of Katrina and helps out with the good cause, and dispenses pearls of wisdom like “Mumbai ka paisa, Mumbai main hi rehta hai”.
City of Dreams has a couple of parallel narratives running, but at least one of them about a prostitute, Katrina (Amrita Bagchi), and her lover-boy (Vishwas Kini), appears completely redundant. And there are far too many scenes that could have been edited out, making the series tighter and an easier watch.While it is much too glossy, making the whole series look like the setting of a rich-fat Indian wedding (with Bapat and Chandekar appearing all dressed up all the time), the tendency to paint Ashish all black and Poornima all white is like letting the cat out much too soon.
Overall 'City of Dreams' is eminently watchable, binge-watch-worthy material.

Mayanagari-City of Dreams is an Indian political thriller web series by Hotstar. The web series tries to bring in different characters together and make it an engaging saga. However, it fails spectacularly. Instead of creating a complex engaging thriller, it is a mess which does not entangle as the show progresses. Predictable plot points do the series disservice and adds to the shoddy quality. The actors try hard but fail to make any impact. The weak writing adds to the woes. You will try to root for the web series and give your attention but very soon you'll realize it's not gonna happen. Save your time by skipping this one.

Straightaway, "City Of Dreams" encircles a cluster of power-hungry characters whose motives are never cogent, let alone comprehensible.
Deftly inter-woven, the plot moves in mysterious ways embracing characters who are at once cunning and naive. The aforementioned wounded politician's daughter Poornima (a very lovely and emotionally empowered Priya Bapat) fights it out with her out-of-control debauched brother Ashish (Siddharth Chandekar).
The two actors play off against one another with controlled acerbity, bringing out Shakespearean levels of power-greed as the plot unfolds in a gripping game of one-upmanship.

At first, I totally underestimated it, by just looking at the poster. But when I actually watched the first episode, it kind of blew my mind away. It was amazingly directed by Nagesh Sir. It is a must watch show, there are twist in every episodes. Every actor played their role perfectly. The story is based on a typical Indian political family. The power to victory and to rule the party is the main goal.

It is the story of the Mumbai city wherein starts with the assassination attempt on one of the famous political figure Ameya Gaikwaad. On the way he is showered with bullets by some anonymous bikers and is immediately rushed to the hospital. While the elections around the corner the question arises of who will lead his place. Naturally, Ashish Gaikwaad, son of Ameya Rao considers himself way too suitable for the seat. However, Jatin want to push aside Ashish because he knows that the seat will be at stake if he takes over and hence convinces Poonam, daughter of Ameya Rao to stand for the seat. Ashish is a hot headed and a tardy person whereas Poonam is a simple and an innocent housewife. the chief minister of the state supports Ashish wheres Jatin supports Poonam to take over the seat. Things go out of shape when Ashish and Poonam stand against each other and are ready to do anything to take over the seat. Watch the drama unfold and finally who gets the seat.
