Powerhouse of emotions
Hard work, creative efforts, and earnest thoughtfulness were what went into the making of this show, and it becomes apparent from the title itself which is actually an acronym for the name of characters of the 5 female leads - Ayesha (Anshul Chauhan), Aditi (Pushtii Shakti), Faiza (Chitrashi Rawat), Anu (Neelam Sivia), and Titli (Nikita Dutta). Everyone one of them is indeed capable of bringing 'Aafat,' given their compelling performances and dialogue delivery.

At first glance, a corny story of a bachelor trying to find a bride through a marriage bureau, seems to be capable of putting anyone to a deep sleep but thank heavens, looks can be deceptive. The show is not about Ghoongats, Samosas or 'khana bana leti ho?' it's a well told tale of 5 unique, eccentric and bold women, who refuse to resign to societal conforms. Despite their bravado, they struggle and suffer, making them just as human as you and me. Performances do complete justice to thoughtfully written characters. Even the matchmaker has a wacky sense of humor which she puts to good use for entertainment.

The show does a great job when taking digs at societal norms and challenging them in their totality. It is miles ahead of most series in Indian web-space. It's an experience, I believe, everyone must go through, living it along with some charming leads, and savoring the genius that is the script.

Aafat is an MX Original web series released in 2019. It is a comedy-drama which revolves around Ricky Malhotra, an eligible bachelor who is on a quest for a perfect bride. So he and his mother go to a marriage agency named Rishtey Farishtey, where they were introduced with profiles of five girls, Ayesha, Aditi, Faiza, Anu, and Titli. All of them has one unique quirk which is considered as an imperfection by the typical Indian society. The series is really entertaining which beautifully deals with some of the issues faced by women. The plot is really unique and the actors did a marvelous job with their characters. It is a must-watch for all the women out there as they can relate to this and do make your family watch it. All the episodes are streaming on the MX player, check them out.

Ricky and his mother are looking for the perfect bride for their family. They get in touch with a matrimonial agency and decide to meet 5 girls. All the girls are from different walks of life, but the one thing that’s common between them is they live suffocating lives because of patriarchy and societal pressure – whether subtle or unsubtle. One of them is a divorcee, another is on the healthier side, yet another doesn’t wax (that’s a new one), while someone else is looking for love somewhere else. Another one is a rebel without a pause, and an outspoken one at that – which routinely has her use cuss words.
Women empowerment related content seems to be a go-to for the filmmakers and content creators recently, but Aafat manages to be unique and stand out among them all, with its black humour. All the actors, from the five leading ladies to the supporting characters, have done an excellent job at portraying their characters. You can’t help but remember that one Agony Aunt in your life, by watching Ricky’s mother, and scoff at the arrogant and dumb Ricky, who is more beauty and less brain, a spoilt rich brat. Sidharth Bhardwaj has given life to Ricky, with his lively performance.
The different scenarios are projected in a light-hearted, non-preachy manner, and that’d have an instant connect with the audience. Stupendous performances from the cast pulls this show together. Sidharth Bharadwaj, who plays Ricky could be the cutest antagonist in the history of streaming. Aditi Manchanda, Nikita Dutta, Chitranshi Rawat, Neelam Sivia and others play their characters to the hilt. The screenplay also has several in-jokes, like a woman with a t-shirt that suggests not to over analyse life hosting an astrology show and keeps the proceedings peppers.
The best part about the series is that it throws out in the open urban patriarchy. People have a misconception that patriarchy exists either only in rural India or the middle-class in the urban crowd. However, this series proves all that wrong.
Aafat is an entertainer for everyone. Aafat is a must watch smasher.

Extremely Entertaining
Aafat is an Indian comedy web series by MX Player. It showcases the lives of a prospective groom and his five prospective brides. The series is absolutely brilliant. Each of the five women are fighting a battle with themselves about a quality which the society frowns upon. This make their characters come alive. It was hard for me to find a weak spot because I don't remember a single point in time when I thought that this isn't enjoyable. The show is original and packed with humor. The duration of the episodes and the season is perfect. If you are wondering about how engaging the show is, let it be known that I finished it in one go. Absolutely amazing, go for it!

Entertaining.
MX player’s original series ‘Aafat’ deals with the unfortunate reality of the matchmaking in India. The superficial things like bank balance, outer beauty or other social norms. Revolving around the life of decent and good looking Ricky Malhotra, a catch in the marriage business. Along with his mother, he sets out in search of a beautiful and suitable bride. He is presented with 5 matches, each of them having a quirk considered unsuitable for a perfect bride. Baldness, hairy, loud-mouthed, overweight and divorcee, the girls bring their own set of peculiarity to the show. I really loved the perfect timing all the characters had on the screen and the humorous portrayal of matchmaking in India. The title is made up by the initial of every girl’s name, Aditi, Aisha, Faiza, Anu and Titli. There is nothing too overwhelming about the show and is perfect for binge watching.
