Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is a film directed by Chris Columbus. After watching the first film which I liked a lot, I was pretty excited for the second part. After watching it I can say that I enjoyed this particular part too.

Plot: Harry Potter is warned by Dobby, a House elf not to attend Hogwarts School of Magic as danger awaits him.

Story and direction: This film is one of those rare sequels which improve upon the first. This film doesn't take time to set up things. But instead we are immediately thrown into action. Also introduced are some new characters which impressed me like Lucius Malfoy and Ginny Weasley and another one not being of much importance like Gilderoy Lockhart. If this character was removed it wouldn't be much of a loss to this film. The funny scenes also feel funny and not forced. John Williams' score is again awesome and I can just hear it again and again. The film deals with another theme which I liked a lot the way it was handled. As for the VFX, although it has improved much from the first part but still there are some imperfections. There is some animatronic work with creatures which were excellent. It felt like the creatures were real and would jump out of the screen. The sets are massive and adorable. The action scenes in this film were great.They were so believe-able that I had goosebumps. Even though the film is longer than the first part, I felt much more entertained by this film. Chris Columbus and Steve Kloves have again done a wonderful job in providing us another chapter in this universe that not only makes us happy but also makes you feel for the characters in those particular settings. This film does have a post credit scene but I didn't think that the film did need that.

Performances: All of the regular cast members did an outstanding job. Jason Isaacs was bad (in a good way) as Lucius Malfoy. Kenneth Branagh was also good in the material that was provided to him. Mark Williams as Arthur Weasley did a fine job. The voice of Dobby by Toby Jones was awesome. I didn't know that he voiced Dobby until I read it in the internet.

Favorite Scene: It would be one where Hagrid consoles Hermione about her parents being muggle and both Harry and Ron providing support to her. This scene showed not only showed the strong bond between the kids but also how much Hagrid cares for Harry's gang.

Verdict: For a sequel, this film just ticks all the boxes. I had a great time with this film. It improved upon the first and also opened many new doors for the future films. I just can't wait to see what this series has yet to offer me.

I am going with an 8.5/10.

# attention grabbing

The movie is the second in the series and is also the best in it, it stands out because of its story line which is really exciting with the scene at Ron's place giving an insight as to how is the house of a wizard. It involves flying car, jumping goblin, big giant spider and snake.
The action in the end draws people to the edge of the seat. The movie also offers more scope for laughter created by Ron and their professor-Mr. Lockhart.
The mystery in this part, its description in the book and the direction in the movie is what makes it different than the rest of the novels and movies in the series.
Most important in this movie, personal I feel, is the way that the mystery is unraveled and the way the story ends.

One of the best and interesting movies ,I had ever seen. It is really a visual treat for all of us and good entertaining

This movie is the adaptation of second installment of the harry potter series written by genius author J.K Rowling.As Harry and his friends get ready to go to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry,Harry is mysteriously warned by a house-elf to refrain from going to Hogwarts.
From missing the Hogwarts train, getting beaten up the Whomping Willow-the old Hogwarts tree and facing detection threat from the not-so-loving Severus Snape, Harry's second year could n't get any weirder until even stranger events start happening in the school.
Watch this thrilling movie to see Harry uncover one of most the daunting mysteries in the History of Hogwarts-the chamber of secrets and the imminent horror that it unleashes.

Watching all "Harry Potter" movies I have to say that there was one weak director (Yates), two good one's, but one who really stood out - and it's Chris Columbus. Nobody of the other three guys got it done so beautifully to make a film out of this amazing story of the wizard world around Harry Potter.
The great thing in Columbus's Potter's is that nearly everything is like it's described in the books, and it should be the case. He didn't change many things, the important scenes are all included and there are no new story lines like in the last movies.
So, why "just" nine points? The reason is that in my opinion "The Chamber of Secrets" has the weakest narrative of all seven books (or movies). Don't get me wrong, it's still unbelievably good and exciting, but for me, it's just the least great.
Conclusion: Awesome movie, nine out of ten points, and sadly the last Potter with Chris Columbus as director and Richard Harris as Albus Dumbledore (RIP Richard Harris, the greatest Dumbledore the world could imagine).

The second part of the harry potter saga continues to astonish with flying cars, living trees, elfs and the list goes on and on. Harry potter is tried to be stopped by house elf dobby as he is in risk of losing his life. But harry manages to pull the task with the help of his friend ron and reaches Hogwarts.As they are going through the year harry starts hearing strange noises and people start getting hurt. Soon he comes to realize that it is because of a creature hidden in the school somewhere.With time and interaction with professor and friends he comes to know the creature was hidden in the chamber of secrets by one of the founding members of school as he was against non magical people learning magic. So,in the end harry has to fight against the snake of Basilisk in order to save his school and his friends.
You should see this epic series without skipping. Great fun

This is the second part of Harry Potter series and undoubtedly the best one. This movie redefine the concept of fictional stories.This movie had all the attractive elements of a good fictional movie - a unique story line, larger than life characters , giant and scary snakes and spiders, magnificent views and a dangerous ,fifty villain . No wonder why this movie is so popular among all over the world .
