Marvel's traditional sequel slump
2014 and out of blue GOG rescued the superhero genre from its deathbed of monotony. GOGV2 is suffering from the same disease: a typical villain who wants to destroy the world for no reason, redoing 110% what worked in the first part, justifying presence of every character, putting new needless ones, merely existing just to complete a trilogy... all you have seen before. duh!!!

Two time saviors of the Movies ?
The First movie in this Particular Series was mindbogglingly awesome. So expectations where sky high for this sequel. But after Iron man 2 and Thor 2, my own personal expectations where tepid.

So... I was not disappointed by the film, but I can understand why its not that popular with the critics, nor will it be as big a hit with the audiences as the first part.

That is not to say this film is bad or not well made, it has all the humor and smart dialogs we expect. The music is good; the action is tense at times. But somehow the movie doesn’t come together as well as the first part did.

But the good thing about Marvel is, unlike DC, they never make an outright, badly made... unwatchable mess of a film.

GOTG 2 is fun, it has it moments, but it doesn’t have that epic feeling of the first part. This time the story is a bit more personal to Star-Lord and mostly deals with his re-union with his father.
The GOOD thing is, EVERYTHING that was setup in Part 1 is completely played out with the answer to Star-Lord’s parentage, as well as his feelings for his mother and leaving earth. None of the plot is left hanging and fully and totally resolved. In that regard the film succeeds.

Some Ok type sequels tarnish the first film too, thankfully this film doesn’t do anything to take away from the amazing first part.

Also DRAX stole the show here, he is the best character in the film other than Rocket/Baby Groot. His dialogs are hilarious and he overplays it VERY well…

Rocket and Baby Groot also get their own screen time, with one very funny Baby Groot scene, so over all other than Gamora, no one is shortchanged.

If you are a GOTG fan, this film is enjoyable and fun. If you have never heard of this series, then this film is not for you!

Rating : 7/10. Fun, Witty if not a altogether very coherent or epic Storyline to the film.

Another good MCU film
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is a film written and directed by James Gunn. This film is again a part of the very famous MCU franchise. I hadn't seen the trailers, so I didn't actually know what to expect out of the film. I liked the first one a lot. And I ended up liking this one too.

Plot: The Guardians run away from the Sovereign after they steal something from them. Meanwhile, Peter gets to know something about his heritage.

Story and direction: This film (and the previous part too) basically reminds you of those 1980's buddy cop action films where people just are banded together for one common cause and they also share a love-hate relation with each other. I like many of those kind of films. Because of which I have a special connection with this film too. Within the first few minutes, I was liking the film. The jokes were quite good (This part has some adult jokes too). Then by the time I got towards the climax and the main crux of the story I began to think "Was actually the Sovereign necessary??" I thought that it wasn't necessary. It felt very forced. Also, there was a small part where fast and furious was mentioned (please remember the "family" part that Drax says). If more focus would have been given on some characters like Rocket or Gamorra, I would have loved the film. Also even though I liked the jokes, I felt that the jokes were a bit on the too much side. The emotional quotient was quite missing. That is what made this film less likable than the first part. But the VFX and sets were quite massive and great. Also some of the stunts were awesome. Also this is I guess the first film in the MCU, where we had some 4 post credit scenes. Keep Up the good job, MCU.

Acting: Chris Pratt was again rocking as the Star Lord. I couldn't replace him with any other actor. Zoe Saldana was also bad-ass as Gamorra. Dave Bautista showed another side of his character Drax (the comic side), which although was in quite excess but was enjoyable. Micheal Rooker was also great as Yondu (will quite miss him in the future parts). Pom Klementieff was a great addition to the cast as Mantis. Sylvester Stallone was not necessary for the film. I still didn't understand why he signed for the film. Kurt Russell was great as Ego.

Favorite Scene: I guess it would be the very same as the first part. Yondu using his fin to control the arrow. This time the scene ran for quite a long time. And we see Yondu, Rocket and Groot walking down the road. I mean that scene had a different level of awesomeness in it.

Verdict: Although not as great as the first installment, this film is still good. It was vibrant and enjoyable for me. Can't wait for their crossover with The Avengers and in GOG 3.

I am going to go with an 8/10

Decent entertainer but not a memorable one
The first of Guardians of Galaxy came out of nowhere and won the internet. It was refreshing and people watched it with zero expectations. Things are slightly different with this part. Though the movie is visually appealing, has humor throughout, gripping action scenes, everything the first part has but it didn't really add up much.
So if you are looking for a decent entertainer for the weekend, go for it. What works for the movie is its honest and adorable characters . Groot is as cute AF, Roket badass as always and Drax steals some good moments in the movie.

Considering that Kurt Russell has shown full support of a perverted monster with a grudge against "aliens" who will most likely end the world as we know it, that is surprisingly top-notch casting.
