Man of Steel isn't the masterpiece the trailers promised. It suffers from mediocre screenwriting, poor directing, and an obvious heavy editing hand to pare down the run time. This is a 3 hour movie butchered into 2.3 hours. Henry Cavill is more than a pretty face. His acting is top notch. Amy Adams does a decent job but comes off as Pam from The Office. While the story isn't perfect, it is bolstered by a great score, great visuals (although some look like they were made in the 70's), and the most amazing fight action ever seen on the big screen! It's Dragonball Z meets Marvel v Capcom and is nothing short of incredible! I saw this movie twice. It's better the 2nd time around. The plot holes seemed even bigger, but the story was easier to follow. I'd also recommend seeing in IMAX 3D. The experience was notably better than regular 3D. There are no scenes during or after the credits If you like my reviews, add me as a fan. I'll add you back!

In an age, where Japanese-created anime programs dominate the cartoon circuit, it is actually refreshing to see an American cartoon that not only holds its own against its Asian counterparts, but in many areas, actually surpasses them. It also helps if one is a fan of these legendary DC Comics characters to begin with. Perhaps that is one of the reason I like the show so much. It doesn’t seek to pander to the casual viewer. Justice League was created FOR the fanboys, and as a self-proclaimed fa

Just a look at the opening intro font makes you realize how much polished is this show in every aspect of production. Every visible detail gets enough attention to achieve great quality. Except the most important one, the story.
Starting with the most obvious one, the story moves too slow. Sure GoT world is huge, there are many different worlds/cities/character/stories which enable to always show something "interesting" while taking a very small step in storylines that matter. But in the end it is still the choice to sacrifice storytelling quality for more screen time. In some cases the tempo of main storylines could be easily improved and some selfserving side stories completly cut off.
The main issue however is how GoT world is constructed. Martin just copypasted various stuff from historical/fantasy books and made minor or no changes at all. Everything you see you saw/read somewhere else because well he just took the things he liked from actually creative people and made this vast, epic world. For me in comparison to Carnivale (even if its a different fantasy genre) his world seems empty, disconnected between it parts. The links between characters seems rushed, have very little depth and are sometimes prematurly cut off just to make a shocking scene.
This whole show/books feel more like a reverse engineering product of what people are drawn to than a piece of art with some vision it should be. Even when you see reactions of people to some disgusting scenes, sure at first they're mad at the detail of the sadism shown but after a while they are glad they felt strong emotions just by watching a show. And GoT has far more of these simple psychological attention methods.
In the end its a pretty good show but it cares far more about the skin (that gives immediate attention) than about the soul (that will make you love the show even after everything is said and done)

INCREDIBLE. THE EXTENT OF THE AUDIENCE'S EMOTIONAL INVESTMENT IS THOR'S BEST SUCCESS.
When I watch Marvel movies like Thor, Captain America, etc., I put aside the comics and focus only on the movie. In this case, rating it solely on the movie alone - it was pretty incredible. It had a healthy balance of humor, sadness and grief, as well as thrill and action. It played at your heartstrings, tugging your emotions incessantly -- one second, you could be smiling sweetly at a romantic scene and, the very next, laughing at Loki's silly jokes. Even the harrowing, grief-filled scenes were outstanding. Many scenes left me gasping in both surprise and sadness. While I never did cry (thankfully), it did cause me to choke up a couple times. More than anything, it does a great job playing with your mind. Which Loki is the real Loki? The man who saves others -- or the one who destroys worlds? The one who loves his mother, or the one who doesn't have a mother? And what happened at the end? The movie leaves you with a ton of questions -- always fun for a fan. It is a must-see.

Solid A-...Nolan went for upper-case EPIC and ended up with lower-case epic. More humorous than the trailers suggest (in a BRO-sense), sometimes the music and sound were perfect, other times it was hard to hear what the characters were saying...but the actors hit their marks, the movie went by incredibly fast for me despite the running time and so many homages to sci-fy movies...all slightly twisted/different but there. As usual w/Nolan movie, all the plot points are there for the asking and almost EVERYTHING is foreshadowed. Afterwards I had a stimulating conversation w/my wife as to what was going on in the film as I've ever had on a film we saw together. She LOVED the interactions between all the characters...it really is a talking heads movie w/great action scenes and visuals in-between. The reviewers who have said it's a great movie...but...is my reaction too. It mashed up Apollo 13, Inception, The Right Stuff, 2001, etc....but he missed upper-case EPIC by a few millimeters.

The Matrix...when I first heard about it, I expected just another sci-fi action thriller. Good and filled with insane stunts, but not terribly intelligent.
Boy, was I wrong. Oh, the stunts are there in spades, all right, and yes, they are awesome. And the special effects are absolutely amazing (even if similar ones have been used in other movies as a result- and not explained as well).
But the movie has plot as well. It has characters that I cared about. From Keanu Reeves' excellent portrayal of Neo, the man trying to come to grips with his own identity, to Lawrence Fishburne's mysterious Morpheus, and even the creepy Agents, everyone does a stellar job of making their characters more than just the usual action "hero that kicks butt" and "cannon fodder" roles. I cared about each and every one of the heroes, and hated the villains with a passion. It has a plot, and it has a meaning...and lo and behold, a plot does help the fight scenes! Just try it, if you haven't seen the movie before. Watch one of the fight scenes. Then watch the whole movie. There's a big difference in the feeling and excitement of the scenes- sure, they're great as standalones, but the whole thing put together is an experience unlike just about everything else that's come to the theaters. Think about it next time you're watching one of the more brainless action flicks...think how much better it COULD be.
All I can say is WATCH THIS MOVIE. If you haven't, you're missing out on one of the best films of all time. It isn't just special effects, folks.
