A disturbing movie for a disturbing society.
The Platform is a foreign language Film (Spanish) which has been dubbed to English. It portrays the true definition of a mix of horror and thriller.

Goreng the protoganist of the film ends up in a place called "The Pit or Hole" willingly, in exchange for a diploma. The Pit seems to be the wildest hell form of a jail. It contains different floors, each level consisting of two residents. A large rectangle hole is the standard throughout the pit through which food is carried down from the upper level to the lower levels and the food looks like a banquet feast fit for Kings. It stops per level for a few minutes which is the given time in which the food must be partook. Seems like luxory right?Just few problems. The food is the leftovers of the people from the above floors. It's beyond imaginable the ways they would have treated the food before being passed down. No food can be reatined on the floor otherwise the members of the level will either burn or freeze to death. And worse of them all are the members are shifted to different levels every month and if it wasn't obvious the food sometimes doesn't really reach the lower levels. This leads to suicide, murder, cannabilsm. The food will be enough if everyone ate only how much they needed and not more. That way all levels would get their food and nobody would starve.

Even though the acting is pretty bad a deep message emerges from the film of the true nature of the society we live in. The metaphor strikes that shows the affluent or well off in the society represent the higher levels of The Pit and the one's that hardly get throught the day and drown in poverty are the lower levels. The societal class divisions in a phrase. The impression of the movie is to show the lack of humanity that resides among the people of the well off that can easily help the ones below them but instead resort to taking more of what they need so the poor stay poor and the rich just get richer.

The ending was pretty disheartening and the scenes, raw. This movie isn't for the faint minded people and you're sure to lose way more than just your appetite after watching this. But definitely a worth while watch, especially during the pandemic we are witnessing right now.
