Being a bhansali movie it had all the usual ingredients.Melodrama,awe-inspiring cinematography, beautifully choreographed dance sequences, stunning color schemes, costumes and the grand-bhansali-touch . Also very unlike bhansali cheesy and double meaning dialogues.Sadly the part missing was a script that despite being melodramatic still somehow remains realistic something that is missing from his last few movies.Supriya pathak and richa show us once again how good actors they are but its ranveer-deepika who steal the show. Although over the top at times they do complete justice to script provided with great on screen chemistry. If not for anything watch it for deepika who is somehow turning into a great performer and not just an actress added to the starcast for being beautiful.

You may want to watch it again to enjoy it more!
RamLeela comprises of everything one craves for in a Bollywood + Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie. From the melodrama to romance to action and mouth watering language, it has it all. The movie has all the characters casted perfectly to the role. The Gujarati theme just adds to the colourful appearance. Supriya Pathak comes out with a brilliant performance playing a typical Gujarati woman man handling the Saneras. She is bold, confident, fearless and firm which makes the character altogether more interesting.
Deepika stole the show from the male leads from her last few movies but this time Ranveer is the man who takes the movie to a different role. He is flamboyant and sexy along with vulgar and naughty completing the ingredients for a sizzling role. He becomes the head of Rajadis who are in an enmity with Saneras for 500 years now. Leela (Deepika) and Ram (Ranveer) fall in love amidst the intense rivalry between the two families which takes an uglier look after a sequence of revengeful events.
The plot plays perfectly throughout the movie except for few lack-of-logic scenes. What makes one sit for a long 150 minute movie is that the twist which in unfolded one after another between the two families making the climax even-though-predictable all more interesting!
The sizzling chemistry between the rumored couple catches eyeballs as ever before. Even if one is unaware of Gujarati cultures, this is pure entertainment!

Excellent Bollywood rendition of Romeo and Juliet. There are some twists to the story, but I also loved how the director played off what is very familiar in the story. Instead of a masked ball, the lovers meet at a Holi festival where everyone is doused with colored powder. Leela is no naive young girl. I absolute love that she gives Ram the first kiss, and he is just poleaxed by her. Leela's mother is the warlord of their clan, and Ram's father the other. Later in the story Ram and Leela must take over the reins of their fighting families. There are modern touches like the use of guns AND swords, as well as amusing uses of cell phones.

Really a standout film, and wonderful performances by Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh.

Its an adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to which SLB has done justice with its direction and cinematography. Though script gets messy but visuals, passion and songs are to be looked for.
A borderline case b/w WTF and a piece of appreciation.
