While the makers are saying that the film is based on a Gujarati play, the fact they are not revealing is that this film Oh My God is a shameless copy of an Australian film, "The Man Who Sued God", directed by Mark Joffe. So much for originality! Paresh Rawal is the only redeemable factor.

I should tell you that, as atheist, I didn't at all feel offended by the premise of the film. A small point, but important nonetheless.

Overall this is an entertainer that urges you to think, and is quite right in its message.

I think the concept of this movie is totally different from today's movies like love,romance and action.It came up with innovational idea to make people aware of their misfaiths.

its really good way of presenting the things in todays world where people are moving more towards wrong believe more rather than following the right things and path. people must learn to change there thought process by watching this movie.

The main lead roles in this movie are Akshay kumar and Paresh rawal. This movie is an inspirational one. It deals with all the superstition and the belief about God and poojas. In this akshay plays the role of a loard krishna and paresh rawal plays a role of a businessman who lost everything in an earthquake. Its goes all around pandith, pooja, wishes and prayers. It gives a beautiful moral that god never asks us to spend money on him by directly giving them as funds to some temple or pandits but to help the poor and spend them wisely.

Movie is good specially Paresh was just awesome...Akshay is great but this is not Akshay Kumar movie it belongs to Paresh...Subject is handled in a very simple way conveying a good message...first time Akshay moved from typical masala movie ( I'm a Big Akki fan ) but I loved this one for Paresh...Guys go for it you wont regret...if not for Akshay go for it as a great movie. I think they should considering sending this one to Oscar rather thn Barfi !!!!....Light hearted one liners in typical Akshay - Paresh style are really witty & funny...More thn wot I expected...Dont miss the Fun

The movie is adapted by a Gujarati play which itself was influenced by an Australian film where a middle class man files a case against GOD for causing an earthquake that destroyed only his shop at the Chor Bazaar. It is a story of an atheist who exploits the blind faith of other people in GOD by selling religious item at sky-high prices.
On being bankrupt after the bank shoeed away Kanjibhai's (Paresh Rawal) Insurance claims by stating that the policy doesn't cover the act caused by GOD, he sues both the Insurance company and GOD by filing a case against them. While no lawyer accepts his plea to fight a case for him, he himself has to wear the black apron and perform the duties of lawyer in the court where he logically and wittily questions the presence of GOD to the bunch of confronts in Sadhus, Saints, Maulvis from the famous religious places in INDIA.
There is a twist in the movie where everybody criticizes him for his atheism and stone his house. There enters Akshay Kumar as a "Modern Lord Krishna" with a Harley Davidson like bike and performing Godly stunts in order to save Kanjibhai from the people. He manages to do so and also claims of buying Kanji's house as he had put it on sale after his shop was destroyed. He allows Kanji to stay with him. His companionship sparks a new confidence in Kanjibhai as he continues to struggle in the court.
Krishna helps Kanjibhai in his bizarre legal fight against the GOD and the Insurance Company. The humourous and logical thinking of Kanjibhai proves to be too good for the Blind Faith Theists in a country consisting of several religions to give a second thought to what they have been worshiping so far. The role of Mithun Chakraborty as one the sadhu is a comic one and his dialogues are a revelation of many of Indians' thoughts. One such dialogue being "Indians are not GOD fearing people and not God Loving people".
The climax of the movie is something which makes one feel worthbeing glued throughout the movie which is directed and written by first-timer Umesh Shukla with a sounding message and urge to change the mindset of the people across the country.
Screenplay and the acting of some of the other characters is lacking which can be the only embarrassing aspect of the movie. In the pool of Bollywood's meaningless comedies, this at least sparkles off a debate which is worth discussing.

A great movie with great concept in a place like India where religion is becoming a business !! Awesome reasoning by Paresh Rawal in the movie.. One line by Mithun Da.. that was so true... We Indians are not God-loving.. but God-fearing people !!
