Midnight Special (2016)

A superpowered, otherworldly being has arrived on earth and he's the closest humanity's ever been to seeing the future. He discovers Superman for the first time which makes him realise what he's capable of, and yet he's seen as a threat, therefore making him one of America's biggest targets.

I didn't think I'd ever find myself comparing a whole movie's story to The Iron Giant, but here it is.

Literally out-of-this-world performances by Michael Shannon and Joel Edgerton. Wonderful cinematography and brilliant direction by Jeff Nichols. This movie is unexpectedly good. Do not watch the trailer if you like to be surprised
