Magadheera FINALLY came in the mail after a months long odyssey trying to get this on Blu-ray. It was SO worth the wait!! I'm glad I've seen some other Telugu films because now I know that Magadheera is like a bridge film. It has the modern day elements, comedy uncle bits, and item numbers, but then also has the sweeping historical reincarnation parts.

Ram Charan is the lead, and he doesn't have Prabhas' expressiveness or charisma, but oh my goodness is he an exceptional dancer.

In the first big number, he dances on one leg for what feels like forever. Maybe it was creative editing, but I was wowed.

Kajal Agarwal is Indu and she's great in the modern parts -- she's done multiple rom coms with Prabhas, and I love her spunkiness.

But the real star is Rajamouli's imagination. My mouth was hanging open at the visuals at several places.

Even in the first modern dance number, he has the bosom bump of the girl turn all the guy dancers to stone. There are visual flourishes that surprise and delight throughout.

The big number from the historical part had my mouth hanging on the floor. It's sort of Indu's love fantasy and at one point Ram Charan spirals into the air with and enormous cloak swirling into a spiral around him. Stunning.

Ram Charan is good in the action segments, and he can ride a horse like nobody's business. (I looked him up on Wikipedia and he's a big polo player!) At one point he realizes he's the reincarnation of this famous warrior after he touches the heroine's hand through a bus window. He remembers all, and then grabs a police horse and races after the bus. It's incredible.

There's a few plot holes, but the villain is unbelievably evil, the romance is cute AND epic in the historic parts. It's just all swoonworthy. I bow down to the brilliance of Rajamouli!!
