A typical 'fight the goons-get the girl' story with Chennai present through its culture and Kerala through its locales. The presence of Rohit Shetty is vividly felt through the wreckage of cars and the juicy dialogues. Thoroughly entertaining, Chennai Express ticks all the right spots required to earn crores n the box office-a successful masala-movie maker,a superstar,a top heroine and the true essence of rural India,essence of a road movie,an item song. If you aren't a fan of masala movies,watch it for Deepika. Natural in her portrayal of the Tamil girl,she is unbelievable in her performance. She overshadows the Khan in her natural act.

Chennai Express is the story of Rahul who has been entrusted with the task of taking the ashes of his grandfather to Rameshwaram, by his grandmother-his sole surviving family member. In his journey he meets Meena Amma who is fleeing to escape an unwanted wedding formalized by her don father. Meena declares Rahul as her love and runs away with him from her family. In this process they fall in love and it ends with Rahul fighting with Meena's family.
Absolute timepass, mainstream storyline, good acting by Deepika and over-acting by Shah Rukh(as always) and decent locations

Not my favorite SRK movie, to be honest. I did love all the allusions to his past films, especially when he helps not only the heroine onto a moving train, but her four huge male kidnappers a la DDLJ!

I'm just not a big fan of Rohit Shetty films. The action and humor were all right, but he doesn't capture that spark of romance somehow between SRK and Deepika Pudakone. Not that Deepika wasn't great, in fact, she was one of the best things about the movie.

Pre-release hype, catchy music & unprecedented number of release centres will ensure that the film takes an earth shattering initial. In all probability, it will break all existing records & will be marching its way towards 200C in the long run. From a personal point of view, it's just about average but definitely better than the usual buffonery of Rohit's films!!!

Come on people! It's not that bad. I don't understand why is this movie so hated. I mean this is a comedy movie, right? People have watched many brainless comedies in Bollywood but not hated them the same. Then why for this movie? According to me, this movie was hell of an entertaining ride. The comedy was top notch, good performances from Deepika and SRK, and some beautiful scenes. The only advice from me would be, don't expect much from comedies. Just go for it and you'll definitely be entertained by this movie.

‘New benchmarks’, ‘unstoppable’, ‘new records’ and other inappropriate phrases were used by the people to describe the Super-hit “Chennai Express”. Chennai Express was released on 9th August, 2013 and has been breaking every record in front of it, ever since. They all praise Shahrukh Khan, but for what, his needless over-acting in his new movie? The major role in the movie was played by Deepika Padukone as her hard work was clearly shown.
As other Rohit Shetty’s cliché movies, this one also involves bright colours and raging cars crashing against each other. Though this one broke numerous records, it still isn’t a big hit in Shahrukh’s career. After working in super-hit movies like ‘Chakde India!’, ‘My Name is Khan’, ‘Don’, ‘Swades’, and many more, Chennai Express has not only lowered his action skills, but made a fool out of himself, at the age of 40 (as shown in the movie).
However, on the other hand, Deepika Padukone was the hero of the entire movie, where she didn’t only mesmerize and stun her fans by talking in the (arguably pathetic) South Indian accent, but also out-shined in her acting skills. We wouldn’t have even realized SRK’s absence in the movie if he weren’t there, because Deepika Padukone was the star of the entire movie. I believe that without her, the movie wouldn’t have even gone this far. Speaking of, Chennai Express and Shahrukh Khan, it was definitely absurd to see him promoting his stupid film in every event he went to. Even when he was present at the ‘Saath Hai Hum Uttarakhand’ show that premiered on August 15th, 2013; he still promoted his pathetic movie in-spite of paying sympathy and respect to the soldiers. How insensitive could anyone get, though? Not just that, but he continued to promote his movie on every TV show that he was called on.
It is a great thing that Chennai Express, of all the other brilliant movies in Bollywood, beat 100 crores in less than a week, but for what is it loved? Shahrukh Khan’s over-acting and needless drama in the movie sure did keep the movie going, but also bored a few viewers. He was only making a fool out of everyone in the movie by being a fool himself. The movie focussed on insulting the people of South India, and he just added a little more of his pathetic humour to ignite the fire of rubbish. Shahrukh Khan could do a lot better in his career by not being premiered in the movie, in the first place, because Deepika Padukone deserved all the credit, so Chennai Express didn’t need Shahrukh Khan after all.

This Rohit Shetty film is all about Rahul (Shahrukh Khan), who goes on a journey to fulfill his late grandfather's last wish, and ends up falling for Meenamma(Deepika Padukone), a typical South Indian girl.The movie is EXACTLY what you expect out of a Rohit Shetty film. Flying cars, Flying bodies, humor that tickles you right in your belly: check, check and check. The movie can be enjoyed by fans of Rohit Shetty, Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. Rohit Shetty must be an admirer of Dilwale Dulhaniya le Jaayenge as he has adapted the movie's concept in a humorous way.
The music is not very impressive. One thing we have to admit is the movie has hilarious humor content. Deepika's work is amazing. Her attempt to imitate the south-Indian accent is simply impeccable. Shahrukh's powers however, are not utilized wisely by Rohit Shetty in the movie. Many parts of the movie seemed unfitting, and forced in for the sake of masala. The climax was draggy. Deepika's costumes were graceful and unrealistic. I mean, common! south Indian small town girls hardly dress that way!(For further evidence, please refer to the women crowd other than her in the second half of the movie).
If you seek pure masala in a movie, then you may board this train 'Chennai Express'. For fans, leave your rational brains at home and enjoy this entertainer. And for others who do not care for movies of this sort, you might wanna skip this one!

I had low expectations for this movie,even after that it found a way to disappoint me. Chennai Express is this clichéd Bollywood movie where the Hero fights the goons to win the girl over. I'm from TamilNadu and you don't see everyone carrying a knife everywhere. If you want someone to play the role of a Tamil girl please pick an actress from TamilNadu not some girl from Bangalore who can't speak in tamil fluently. Tanghaballi is supposed to speak in proper tamil instead he speaks in broken tamil. Stupid fight sequences and a huge amount of overacting from Shah Rukh Khan made me hate the movie even more. Rohit Shetty's direction was so bad that i would never set foot on the Chennai Express.

Awesome movie and easily the best of Shah rukh ,Deepika Padukone and Rohit shetty in their career so far.Special applause to Shah rukh for bringing the heroine's name ahead of his.A wholesome masala movie after a long time and definetely worth a watch!

The movie has good as well as bad aspects . The good aspect of the movies are good action sequences. Shahrukh's return to comedy genre after a long time is a refreshing sign. Some scenes really turn out to be hilarious.And the acting is also good. Now coming to the bad aspects of the movie. The movie is typical Rohit Shetty Movie with cars flying all around the park. The accent adapted by Deepika is at times a bit over the top but otherwise she looks good in scenes. Especially SRK deserves a big round of applause because at the age of 48 also he has performed all the stunts himself and with elegance . Thus overall its a one time watch pure masala movie

As expected Chennai express turned out to be the worst movie i've ever seen.Cheap comedy,pathetic acting and mindless action.This movie is for people who love watching disgusting movies like Son of Sardar,Yamla Pagla Deewana,Ready,Bodyguard etc.I really felt that Sharukh Khan would never make such worthless movies but now it seems he too is like other cheap actors of bollywood.I feel really sad for bollywood where movies like Udaan,Paan Singh Tomar are treated insignificant by majority of our audiences and meaningless movies like Chennai express,Ready earn crores.Directors like Rohit Shetty should be put behind bars for making this piece of crap.I wonder why this shitty filmmakers complain of piracy.Do they really deserve to earn money?Is this called filmmaking?I hope someday people will realize this and bollywood will produce more intellectual movies.
