Broken But Beautiful (2018)

Casting Vikrant Messey is inarguably the best decision ALTBalaji has made in long time. His portrayal of a guilt ridden man, who is broken and distraught is indeed beautiful. Veer (Vikrant Messey) lost his wife during an accident of the car that he was driving, and since that accident, he feels nothing but remorse. He grapples with the prospect of moving on and trying to find himself beyond his now shattered, once ideal life.

The sheer depth in characters is a great relief from alt Balaji's typical teenage dramas and for once they seem to have an ace up their sleeves. As the story continues in a well-paced narrative, Veer (Vikrant Massey) stumbles upon Sameera (Harleen Sethi) in his newly rented apartment, who has been described as "the psycho ex" by his cousin. While the title "psycho" may not hold much truth, but she is quite guilty for being caring and considerate. Veer and Sameera's first few encounters aren't exactly amicable but bunch of misunderstandings bring them together.

Despite all the pain, agony and dark emotions it deals with, the show never feels gloomy. Aptly employed comic relief keeps the ethos of the show light; and the multidimensional characters keep it close to reality. It's a great watch for any romance/drama enthusiast.

It is crystal clear that Seth's Sameera and her mortified self abusive'one sided love' I inspired by Kareena kapoor Khan's Geet in Imtiaz Ali's 'Jab we met' . This girl's struggle to come to terms with being dumped is her own. The very talented Vikrant Massey who anchors the series, harnesses it's inner core of raw feelings and makes us watch till the very end. Vikrant plays a man who lives with his dead wife. Vikrant gives enormous dignity to veer's struggle to live with his love even after death. "Broken but beautiful" is a very beautiful story that tells us that it's ok to fell broken and that love can sometimes be found deep within the crevices of a broken heart.

Veer aka the grieving widower and Samira aka the 'clingy ex' are the two main characters of the show which depicts Veer suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder who gets into relationships only for physical comfort, still reeling from the loss of his wife and Samira, who was 'dumped' by her boyfriend almost erratically after almost five years. They find solace in the company of each other and the the story becomes quite obvious and predictable as it progresses. Starring Vikrant Massey as Veer and Harleen Sethi as Samira, the performances are good though. However, overall it shows a huge lack of a seamless, well thought out plot.

Broken But Beautiful is an Indian romance web series by ALT Balaji. It revolves around the lives of Veer and Sameera who are struggling to move on from their past relationships. Often web series begin with a strong premise and fail to capitalize later on, and this show too, is a victim of that. Vikrant Massey is excellent as always while Harleen Sethi provides strong backup. The whole show reeks of plot convenience which often causes the characters to become contradicting to their nature. BBB is touching but not perfect. Watch it only for the actors.

Broken but beautiful is a pleasing and intimate love story of two broken souls, finding solace and peace with each other. The cast has admirable chemistry on-screen and is a treat to watch. The soundtracks are a gift to the playlists and extremely pleasing to the ears. The thing that frustrated me was the slow pace of the show that it got me to the point of screaming at the screen, “Oh! Get together already.” The climax took my heart away, like really far away. It was such a beautiful experience to watch it and the after-effect didn’t leave me for days. It made me realize how much of a hopeless romantic I am. It is a must-watch for sure.

At first you feel there is least possibility that these two people would have any kind of connection but the show is very well written from the start to end. While watching the show I thought they would definitely end up together but I was surprised. To sum up all the story is really beautiful and touching, I loved the writing and the chemistry was awesome between the main characters.
