Bose:Dead or alive is a web series concieved by Ekta Kapoor on her digital platform, Alt Balaji. It stars Rajkumar Rao, Naveen Kasturia and others.

Subash Chandra Bose was one of the greatest leaders India might have ever produced in its freedom struggle. He had done almost everything to ruin the british struggle, and in fact had some of it. But there's one thing that still remains mysterious, i.e, his death. No one knows the secret behind his death. And this secret has been dealt in this web series, over a span of nine episodes.

Plotline & Screenplay:
The plot deals with the mysterious disapperance of Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, and also narrates the various incidents that had occured with him when he was trying to start an uprising, in a non-linear narrative.

The narrative might confuse you a bit but you have to keep a track of the dates. Very much like history. All the events are true, though some of them have been presented in a fictionalised manner. It is an interesting one, and gets you gripping right from the very beginning. You can't just afford to miss a single moment, all thanks to a gripping screenplay. The screenplay is very tight, and does not waste any time on melodrama and romance. Nothing of that sort. Nice work!

Acting:
Special praises to Rajkumar Rao who again effectively potrays this role, with much ease. His emotions look very realistic and apt to the point. Naveen Kasturia is also very good, as a helpless police officer. All the other cast did a fine job.

Direction, Music:
Pulkit has done a good job in directing the series. The music was fine and I'd say, just OKAY.

Verdict:
Must watch for all those patriots and history lovers. If you do not fall under any of this category, you can still watch it for the stellar performance of Rajkumar Rao. I bet you'll love it.

The director of this series Hansal Mehta has earlier bught us Shahid and Aligarh both with Raj Kummar Rao and he was able to get the best out of him. Raj Kummar was so engrossed in his character that when he slaps his professor when he was giving his exam literally sent chills down our spines. Bose: Dead/Alive has been adapted from writer Anuj Dhar's book titled India's Biggest Cover-up. Bose stars the highly talented Rajkummar Rao in the eponymous web series. He teams up with Hansal Mehta. There have been news reports which state that PM Jawaharlal Nehru had his spies go through all the mails of Bose’s house in Calcutta to ascertain whether he was still alive. Another rumor doing the rounds was that Bose was captured by the then USSR.Many attribute India’s freedom to Bose’s revolutionary ways. With the mystery around Netaji’s death still unsolved, any show or movie revolving around his life is bound to garner a lot of attention. ALTBalaji head – Ekta Kapoor, seems to have all the elements in place to guarantee a hit show.
The web series starts off with news of Subhash Chandra Bose’s death. The show goes back & forth between Bose’s death in the year 1945 to his college days. The show mainly revolves around the British trying to find out whether Bose died in an air crash in Japan, or whether he is still alive.
Rajkummar Rao is excellent in his role. His scenes with the British, especially the one where he slaps his professor during an exam gave us goose bumps. Rajkummar gets into the skin of his character. The people in charge of his makeup have done a good job. The script is tight & does not drag.
The show throws light on Netaji’s relationship with his caucasian wife. A amount of research done is commendable. The director has to be patted for giving us a good show & extracting fine performances. The show has an excellent Bengali rock sound track, which will haunt you. I strongly recommend you to view the first six episodes.

A very good biography
A beautiful biography of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose porttayed by the director through this web-series. The sequence of events, specifically historical events that took place in his life is very well brought up and shown here. Rajkummar Rao did a really great job in his pivotal role as Bose. The ambiguity that this web-series deals with, is too, portrayed with immense beauty.

Bose: Dead/Alive is an Indian historical drama web television miniseries starring Rajkummar Rao in the character of Bose. On 18 August 1945 after his overloaded Japanese plane crashed in Japanese-occupied Formosa (now Taiwan), Subhas Chandra Bose is supposed dead. However, his house in Kolkata receives a telegram from Mahatma Gandhi to not conduct his last rites. It then begins with consideration about his death and other characters who infer how he has disappeared in the past as well, with all of them hinting his possible arrival. The entire series is cast as a cat-and-mouse game between the representatives of the British Raj and Bose, Rajkummar Rao taking us through the various stages of development in the mysterious leader's life with a sure-handed cockiness that never suggests a fragment of smugness.

If anyone intrigues me more than any other person, it's got to be Subhash Chandra Bose. The man who was really the Boss. This show is an arrow on the heart of the issue : where did Bose escape after the airplane crash in Japan. You might think its all concocted and candy coated. But let's not forget that this is what drama stands for.
Rao, being the excellent actor that he is, has left no stone unturned to prove his metal. We see in him the passion of the real Bose.
Patralekha, is very convincing as the elite, Brit polished girl of open mentality.
There are certain scenes that make you question your judgement about Bose till this day. Well, this is what seem series actually are for. Watch every episode with a quest to uncover the mystery around Bose's death.
