Humorous and consistent
A surprising addition to the list of Amazon's specials, is this underrated piece of consistent and impressive writing and performances- 'Shaitan haveli' by Varun Thakur. Show parodies everything wrong with Indian horror movies- from white saree clad witches to massive Havelis and terrible sound effects.
The plot follows a famous horror movie director Hariman Singh (Bhupesh Singh), whose last movie - a failed romance drama, has buried him in debt. As a way to get out of it, he goes back to his forte and starts working on his next hit horror film. His cast for the film include a dim-witted gangster's son -Ponty (Adi Irani); his exotic yet astute girlfriend, Julia (Pippa Hughes); a famous self-absorbed Bollywood diva, Prarthana (Neha Chauhan) and a struggling actor, Varun (as himself).

This colorful ensemble of eccentric people alone ensures a witty, humorous and interesting experience. Although there aren't many moments that stand out, the show manages to be fairly captivating throughout, all credit to a strong script and a surprisingly engaging plot. From leads to the supporting actors everyone does a convincing job of portraying their quirky character. Bhupesh Singh's performance especially stands out and his time on camera is something to look forward to.

While you may not be out of breath laughing when watching this mini series, it will however knock your socks off!

Starring Varun Thakur and Bhupesh Singh in lead roles, 'Shaitaan Haveli' is a humorous take on the horrors-sex genre that plagued our film industry in the 1980s. This show is hilariously entertaining and a quirky make with an unconventional premise. Unique in its own way, this had a lot to offer. Unfortunately though, it drags on for too long and ends up losing its charm in the process. Overall, it makes for decent one-time watch.

Shaitaan Haveli is the stands up comedian Varun Thakur’s parody of the old Bollywood horror movie with the tinge of humor. The show is set in a haunted yet enormous mansion where a B-grade director decides to make up for his loss by shooting a horror film. Little did they know that instead of filming one, they will be living in one. The show has gotten mixed reviews but personally, I liked the show. I have always been a fan of Varun Thakur and to witness him in this parody is such a treat to eyes. But the show becomes a little mundane after a while and feels stretched on for quite long. But all in all it is a watchable and humor filled show.

Shaitaan Haveli is a horror-comedy web series created by Varun Thakur, a well-known stand-up comedian. It is a parody of the 80s Indian horror film which revolves around a B-Grade filmmaker Hariman who has given many hit horror films, but his recent film, a family drama was a complete disaster. So he decides to make another horror film, set in a haveli in a remote location, but the crew doesn’t know that the haveli is itself haunted. So while shooting the film they face a lot of mysterious and horror situations in reality. The screenplay is good and the actors did a decent job. The series is a bit boring and not so engaging, but it is worth a one time watch. All the episodes are now streaming on the Amazon Prime Video app, check them out.

The story revolves around Rahul(Varun Thakur), who is a struggling actor. He lands a supporting role in washed out director Hariman’s latest movie. Hariman used to be a successful director, but his movies have been bombing lately. In a bid to save his career & have one last shot at success he convinces a gangster to lend him money for one last movie project. He promises the gangster that he will make a successful movie with his son Monty in the lead. Lured by this offer, the gangster agrees to bankroll Hariman’s horror movie. A series of mishaps happen at the shoot. Several people are murdered on the shoot. Monty acting talents or rather the lack of it worries Hariman no end. It now up to Rahul to save the day.
While it is not one of the most rib tickling comedies we have seen, it surely is entertaining.
Hemant Kumar who plays Monty – a Salman Khan rip off is funny as hell Salman Khan hangover is mad funny. Zahid Ali who plays Mukesh – a pot bellied has been actor is funny. Varun Thakur is convincing in his role. But, he doesn’t have the best punchlines. Monty’s Salman Khanesque antics will keep you amused. Pippa Hughes who plays Julia – Monty’s gf & also acts in the movie, adds some romantic flavor. Kanchan Pagare(Gangu) is funny. The rest of the cast fails to make an impression.
The jokes are not as funny as funny as one would expect from a Varun Thakur show. There was ample scope for funny scenes & evoke peals of laughter from the viewers, but the writers fail to do so. While the jokes failed to impress, we binged on the show, thanks to the script.
Shaitaan Haveli is a typical masala entertainer of a web series. Do not watch it with high expectations as far as the comedy department is concerned. It is a good show to watch.

Bingeworthy
Shaitaan Haveli is an Indian horror comedy by Amazon Prime Video. Created by Varun Thakur, more than a web series, it feels like a parody of the 80s horror thrillers. The show is undoubtedly funny, courtesy Varun Thakur and cast and also takes shots at the genre itself. The fact that the show can laugh on itself makes it incredibly fun to watch. The plot may be a little problem but the performances compensate for it. For a miniseries of 8 episodes, the pace of the show is good and feels organic. This show perfectly fits the description of a timepass, nothing to do on a weekend binge show.
