Opinion
I might go against the normal verdict of the show being bad. It was one of the few good things one can watch about suicides and its prevention.
Hannah Baker, a normal 17 year old girl with mental health issues running in her bloodline has to shift school. Here she attempts and making good friends but what do the people do, break he heat and trust. They drive he insane to such an extent that the poor girl commits suicide.

No one knows how severely someone's words can hurt the other.
Yes, the concept was beautiful, the execution could have been a lot Better.

Thirteen Reasons Why is a mind and heart wrenching series revolving around the life of "HANNAH BAKER" who's role is played by Katherine Langford, the girl who took her own life by committing suicide in her school life because of severe bullying faced by her . Before committing suicide Hannah recorded thirteen cassettes in her voice in which she mentioned the thirteen reasons of taking this extreme step of committing suicide , she made several copies of these tapes/cassettes in order to send it to all those people who were mentioned in her cassette/tape .The reality of her death started to come out of shade after a boy named Clay Jenson got the box of thirteen tapes as Clay had a crush on Hannah Baker and he was very much affected by her death.
The series showcases how an ordinary girl like Hannah Baker became friends with other kids in her new school and how she became best friends from being strangers and then strangers again. After a time bullying became so much for Hannah to take that she thought of killing herself and then seek her revenge by recording the reality of every student involved in the mental and sexual harassment of her and many more kids who never even got to know the reality behind the harsh reality .

Forced Story of the Truth
Hannah Baker committed suicide. And she wants the people she holds responsible to know. She leaves behind 13 tapes, each tape addressed to someone she knew, explaining how her relationship with that person further pushed her into depression. As she says, her suicide was due to the chaos effect, a result of several piled up issues over a period of time.
The main objective of this show is to spread awareness about issues that high-schoolers face, which takes a toll on their mental health too. And season 1 definitely covers such issue and makes you think about how you should be more responsible and careful towards what you say and do. The story is told through tapes, which Clay, to whom tape number 11 is dedicated to listens to. Clay was in love with Hannah and felt angry at himself for not recognizing what Hannah was going through, which again gives you the importance of helping people around you speak up. Overall, in season 1, the depressing matter does not start till the 8th tape, but due to sensitive issues such as rape, viewers must be of sound mind to not disturb them.
However, as well as season 1 went, season 2 is a drag. Each episode of season 2 is a testimony given by some of the characters, as Hannah Baker's mother has sued the school for not taking required action on Hannah being depressed. This takes you back to the past into Hannah's life, but some of her behavior then ruins her image of season 1. You start growing closer to Clay instead of Hannah, and Hannah seems like someone you do not know anymore, a new character.
Several disturbing facts arise in the case of the high school rapist, but justice is not served to the rape victims by the end of the show, and instead the rapist is given a way to flee, which is not a message that the show should be trying to put across. And how another student of the school is bullied is way too violent and scarring, especially in the last episode. While the last episode also tries to show gun violence to highlight recent similar situations in USA, it is not show properly, and instead just adds to the number of unresolved horrible issues. Season 2 is incomplete, clearly to just encourage viewers to watch season 3 as well to find out what happens, but watching only the first season of 13 Reasons Why will also suffice.

Bold and Deadly Truths
Never before has anyone seen a darker, truthful series on bullying among the youth. It showcases with absolute clarity, the horrors faced and the unspeakable deeds done to students. Life isn't always rosy for everyone and it is important to be prepared about what to do when faced with disturbing situations.
This series is an eye-opener and many such shows can bring about a change in society. Though some scenes are torturous to watch and horrific to imagine, this all adds to the impact of the series on the minds of many. Kudos to the makers for bringing an unflinching new topic into the mainstream media.
