It's Legen-wait for it-dary
Based on the lives of five friends living in Manhattan,HIMYM(as it is fondly referred to) is a coming-of-age sitcom which narrates its story backwards. Not technically backwards, just that it shows Ted Mosby, the protagonist telling the story of his college life, his several relationships and the moments spent with his friends, before he met their biological mother. Why do I use 'biological'? Well if you are a fan you know it-or you will, eventually!
Ted is an aspiring architect living with Marshall-an aspiring environment lawyer and his beloved,Lily-the mother-hen of the group, who aspires to be an artist but is stuck with the job of a kindergarten teacher. And within their simple mundane loves,a dash of spice is added by the unpredictable and incredible Barney Stinson- whose job still remains a mystery. Their lives and its pace faces a change when Robin Scherbatsky,a Canadian journalist enters their lives. She is smart, beautiful and at the first glance Ted is attracted towards her. With this begins a new chapter in all of their lives-where Robin becomes a permanent member of their group and a love interest of both Barney and Ted.
The relationships of Ted-Robin and Barney-robin hold the center-stage throughout, though the at first shaky, but later super-steady relationship of Marshall and Lily holds the story together. The show charts every part of the lives of these five people-their childhood, their parents, their love-affairs significant and insignificant ones, the progresses in their careers very particularly, focusing on each character equally just that this progression is not linear. The most exciting element of this show is that every event is revealed through Ted's mode of narration to his children. All the characters are developed beautifully and each are given individual traits and fair share of luck and heartbreaks which make them convincing and lovable. The themes of love, mature relationships,marriage,un-reciprocated love, moving on after a failed relationship is depicted realistically and beautifully. The emotional content is really high and it reaches the climax in the final season when Barney is all set to marry Ted's love,Robin and Ted meets the children's mother,Tracy, only to lose her a few years later. Over-all, a very loved show and hugely popular because of Barney's antics and methodology of wooing women-and his character contrasted with the sensitive lover in Ted. The chemistry of Lily and Marshall and the failures of Robin, the successful career-woman,on the relationship front, makes the whole mix of the show really warm.

Great!
It is quite rare that a romcom tells such a soothing story about lives scattered across different continents, lives of people of different ages, and tastes. The Holiday is a wonderfully original in its presentation and all the top names who have been roped in,do justice to their roles.

watch it, women!
With all the buzz about women-centric films hogging all the limelight in Bollywood in recent days,Queen is a film which deserves all this attention and for the right reasons.A beautiful storyline with the heartrending journey of a young, innocent girl from meekness and ignorance to self-confidence,Queen is a piece which will be remembered. The eponymous heroine's name turns out to be irony mocking at her life when, despite being the most ideal daughter, and fiancee, she gets rejected the day before her wedding and finds her world of dreams crashing down. To get over the shock, she decides to venture on her pre-booked honeymoon, alone. Breaking free from her image, her community, her society she transforms into self-confident,independent woman when she walks alone in the streets of Europe, and lives with three men in a mess. With her roots deeply etched in her culture, she lets her soul wander, and during her journey becomes the master of her own life. In true sense, she becomes the true Queen-not just a name which her beloved has gifted her,to disguise his authority over her.
When she returns, the same fiance begs for a reunion, but what she does,is surprising but truly inspiring. Watch out for Kangana's soulful performance and the supporting cast who are equally talented. And,women(I am trying my best not be biased),surely watch it to make your spirits dance to 'London Thumakda'

Life is all about wait!
Based on a true story,The Terminal is about a passenger from Krakozia(fictional) stranded in JFK Airport,New York whose passport is not valid because his country, being in a state of unrest and war,is not being considered a free state. The logic of free state and freedom of person, the politics between borderlines, and a man's struggle in a no-man's land-the film is a very touching story where Tom Hanks gives a standout performance. A man who is alien to English, refuses intentionally or ignorantly we do not know,to submit himself before the airport authority's autocratic orders and creates wholly different life for himself within the airport premises-spreading love, joy and warmth. The film ends on a realistic note, which makes it all the more laudable.

Not just a Nerd's Sitcom!
Four Geeks and a Greek Goddess! Yep,that is what constitutes The Big Bang theory! With seven seasons aired and few more yet to come, TBBT is one of the most popular sitcom of present days. With a very strong sense of deja vu arising from the concept of roomie-friends and hot girlfriends-TBBT tries its best to set itself apart from the predecessors in this genre, and quite successfully does so. In terms of plot, characterization, twists, and events it is quite original and very witty in its content.
Dr.Sheldon Cooper, the super-genius and super-Nerd has become a household favorite for his antics! He is unsocial, snob yet so so lovable. His room-mate,Dr.Leonard Hofstadter another brilliant scientist is the only one in the group with normal acceptable social etiquette who protects and nurtures Sheldon. Then they are friends with Howard Wolowitz, the astronaut with an eccentric sense of style who lives with his impossibly demanding mother and tries hard to be a womanizer. And,there is Raj,or Dr. Rajesh Koothrapalli, the genius scientist from India who is shy and unable to speak to women, without the influence of alcohol. Into the lives of these four men, comes Penny(we do not know her last name yet) the hot, lovable woman, an aspiring actress who rents the flat opposite to Sheldon's. With coming of Penny, everything changes!
Though these scientists speak work, and a lot of physics and astrophysics, their conversations are not unintelligible. Furthermore they are comic-book fans and are miles away from being mature men with tastes of a 30-something! Penny has a complete different background, and set-up and the result is hilarious when the party assembles. With development of seasons,Bernadette is introduced. She is a microbiologist, who goes on to become Howard's wife. And we also meet Amy,who is a neuroscientist who dates Sheldon. With Penny as the odd one out in this laboratory of nerds, this show promises a lot of simple, touching emotions, and rocking humor!

One-watch movie!
With two super charming lead actors, this film is so soothing for the eye! Though,if we are to comment on the content, the opinions will differ. The concept can be aptly expressed in the adage,' old wine in new bottles'. A womanizer,Jamie(Jake Gyllenhaal) falling hopelessly in love with a woman, which forces him to mend his ways! This is the plot in a nutshell! The heroine-Maggie(Hathaway) is a frail, young lady suffering from Parkinson's who fiercely guards her dignity and avoids commitments in fear of being a burden on someone . Their love-story blossoms in the chamber of a physician Dr. Knight(Azaria),where Maggie has come to seek treatment and Jamie to sell the products of his employer, the pharmaceutical giant,Pfizer.
What forms the lifeline of the plot is the war of drugs! The commercial facet of healthcare sector-the competition among manufacturing companies, their shrewd ways of luring doctors to prescribe their drugs over others-in short it shows the life and challenging, yet hilarious ways of persuasion adopted a medical representative. Without being too grumpy or mawkish regarding the selfish mercenary pursuits of doctors or healthcare professionals, the film deals more with the funny aspects of the job! For example, the promotion of the drug Viagra and people's interests being drawn by exaggerations hilarious! It becomes even more funny when Jamie becomes a victim of Viagra's side-effects!
At times, the love-story becomes too sugary to handle...when an independent woman in Maggie falls apart in need of love, and the lover in Jamie who chickens out on hearing the inescapable problems that living with a Parkinson's patient entails! Yet the acting is restrained and believable. Both the lead actors have done marvelous job and there are some really steamy scenes splattered across the movie! Over-all a different rom-com with loads of humor

Buddies and music. The best combo!
The movie is a cult one and stands undisputed among the top bollywood films made on friendship. Four college friends, who were passionate about music won a music contest as a band, and while they were about to record their album-misunderstandings ensued and the band was dismantled and so was the bonding! Several years later, the wife of the vocalist finds some band photos, featuring her sombre introvert husband, and her curiosity makes her unravel a whole new exciting past! She plans a reunion of the four friends and they try to rebuild the bond, and the band! The story has been expressed beautifully with several emotional scenes and very sensitive aspect of relationships! The estrangement and the journey towards a final reunion has been smoothly translated onto screen without any loopholes or over-dramatization! Music is the hero of the film and the raw voice of Farhan Akhtar makes the songs all the more apt for the film which features a new band!
Emotionally stirring, and pleasing to the ears- Rock on is a film which you can watch endlessly on the loop!

Arjun's fangirls,go for it!
The stereotyped concept of inter-state marriage in India and the hotchpotch that ensues. The conflicting ideals of a Tamil Brahmin family and a Punjabi family- and two passionate lovers drawn in the brawl. The movie speaks about the fact how marriage is more important as a tie-up between families and culture more than the bonding between two persons! A lot of mud-slinging between parents and a lot of hard work on the part of the lovers to bring them round!
Alia and Arjun are commendable in their roles-so are the supporting cast! Music is mesmerizing in some parts-making the flow of the movie smooth and enchanting! Newcomer director does a good job in adapting the bestseller novel into an entertaining piece
