Conan, Ran, and Sonoko visit the exhibition of up-and-coming artist Bekobe Motoko. Motoko has attracted international attention with her avant-garde works that combine the traditional akabeko with modern art. While viewing the exhibition, they hear a scream. They rush to the source, where they find Motoko strangled to death. In the body's left hand is an akabeko, and her right hand is pointing at a dying message that says "fuku"...

This time, Kogoro took over an unusual affair, from a well-known novelist who specialises in teen novels particularly, named Chu Masamura. He requested Kogoro to investigate regarding a deceased, who is called Taizo Yasuki, who died recently during a car accident. He persistantly emphasised his need, to ascertain all of the late Yasuki's friends and acquaintances, especially those "questionable" ones.

While playing in the park, Conan and the Detective Boys find a man's body in the bushes. According to the police, the man is Takamatsu Jiro, who worked in a nearby building as a moneylender, leading them to believe the murder may have been an armed robbery or related to money troubles. The blood on the rock used to kill him suggests the culprit is covered in blood. The children, who were in the park the whole time, didn't see anyone suspicious, and the trail of bloody footprints they find ends

Conan, Ran, and Sonoko visit the Robanov imperial treasures exhibit. The highlight of the exhibition is a tiara set with the world's largest garnet passed down from queen to queen, known as the Queen's Bang. Because Kaito Kid has declared his intent to steal the tiara, a long line has formed at the exhibition. They find Amuro and Azusa in line, and they decide to wait in line together. The Queen's Bang tiara, centerpiece of the Robanov imperial treasures exhibit, is stolen by Kaito Kid! The exhibition hall is suddenly enveloped in white smoke, and by the time it has cleared, the tiara inside the case has vanished. Because a gas mask would ruin his disguise, it's unlikely Kaito Kid was wearing one. The suspects are narrowed down to Amuro, Azusa, and Kazami, who were standing near the tiara without masks, so Conan decides to investigate.

A man armed with a gun shows up in a residential neighborhood. He takes a woman hostage and holes up inside a nearby home. Conan and Kogoro rush to the scene after seeing the situation on TV. The police are confused by the culprit's nonsensical demands. The homeowner arrives and tells the police not to worry about breaking down doors or walls since the home is vacant and will be demolished the next day. Detective Kogoro is asked to be the bodyguard of the owner of a high-end host club. On the first day of his duties, he finds the owner dead in his own pool. It looks like one of the members of his annual four-person class reunion may be responsible.

Conan accompanies Sonoko to the studio of a famous potter. While there, Conan discovers that one of his pottery pieces has been broken, and worse, that the piece was already sold! It will take Conan's skills in deductive reasoning to figure out the culprit.

The kids assist Detective Takagi in trying to catch a murderer. They have to stakeout a bakery to try to find the culprit. Can they focus on solving the crime instead of focusing on pastries and sweets from the bakery?

Detective Kogoro, Ran, and Conan are in Gunma after solving a missing persons case when Detective Mori calls Detective Yamamura. Detective Yamamura asks Detective Mori for help with a murder that took place directly on the border between Gunma and Nagano.
