Journalist Anupam Chaubey interviews Sunny Leone, one of the most googled celebrities in India, and starts on a disparaging note. Unperturbed by his tone, Sunny (Karenjit Kaur) opens about her early childhood, including the proud moment when she bought her very first dress with her own hard-earned money.

The Vohra family moves to Los Angeles where the rebel in teenage Karenjit begins to grow wings. With time though, Karenjit and her brother Sunny realise their responsibilities and keep looking out for ways to earn money and be financially independent.

Karenjit and her brother feel shattered when they discover that their mother has a drinking problem and that their father has lost his job. A desperate Karenjit sets out to find work but faces a moral dilemma when offered a lingerie commercial

When the Vohra family celebrates Raksha Bandhan at home, Karenjit breaks the news to her parents that she’s going to Hollywood to shoot for a clothing brand commercial. Later, she confides in her brother that she is actually shooting for a soft porn film.

Moving out of her parents’ house at the age of 19 to pursue a degree in paediatrics, Karenjit gets a lucrative offer to feature on the cover and centrefold of Penthouse magazine. She contemplates taking up the offer, but a rather unusual little pep talk with her university dean seals the deal for her.
