The girl on the train adapted from runaway best sellar, author being Paula Hawkins is a fairly gripping suspense. The only problem with this movie is that it does not hit the high notes in the way Gone Girl did to which it will inevitably be compared with. That film benefitted in a great deal because the visuals of creepy atmospherics were pure gold as far as cinematography is concerned compared to this flick. The story revolves around "Raechel" who is lonely, doomed, alcoholic girl, whose life has spiralled out of control after her divorce from "Tom" played by JustinTheroux. While she commutes, she stares wistfully at the house she once shared with Tom,whom she still calls and talks much to the annoyance of his new wife "Anna" played by Rebecca Fergueson. She also stares in the other house of a seemingly perfect couple whose life she becomes obsessed with. One day, she finds "Megan" the lady of the house kissing a man who is not her husband, and Raechel takes the betrayal personslly filled with booze-fuelled rage.Next morning when she wokes up,she finds herself totally blacked out only remembering the news of Megan's gone missing and finding herself beaten. From here the film takes the whodunit style. The narratives are really compelling and it does not make much differnce if one sees the movie without reading the novel.Voilent, dark and never easy to watch, this movie is not a perfect movie but a very watchable one.Do give it a chance.
