Censorship and Piracy: Hypocrisy of the millennials

By MMR | 9.9k |

Udta Punjab is leaked online before its release. I will be a hypocrite if I will start shouting anti-piracy slogan but the pre-release leak of a movie like this is an extortion. [Updated on 18/06/2016 2:20am The sarcastic description in reference to download link is removed now]

It is not about piracy; it is different this time.

Well, the purpose of this urgent article is not to spread anti-piracy awareness but to hold your itch for a while. Give the movie a fair chance at the box office. It is not an eye candy movie with unrealistic romance and fancy cars flying. The Udta Punjab team has picked a very serious issue which demands awareness. The cast and crew have toiled from pre to post production of the film. All their hard work on what could possibly be a groundbreaking film made in Indian cinema will go down the drain.

Then again we will be the same people complaining “Why shitty films are being made it India. These movies make no sense. ” Well because people who dared to make realistic cinema were crushed by piracy. But it is different this time. If Udta Punjab is a hit, it will encourage the creation of more innovative, realistic and edgy content and make Indian cinema competitive with International cinema.

So how can you contribute?

We on MyMovieRack have already deleted a couple of download links from the site, and we are proactively checking for the same. You, on the other hand, can contribute by:
1. Go and watch it in cinema. Think of it as a contribution/investment to Indian Cinema. (no brainer)
2. If you anyways watch only pirated movies, please don’t download and distribute till Sunday. Waiting 2 more days for the free content is the least you could do.
3. If you are owner/admin of facebook groups, website etc, please remove download links.
4. If you have already watched it, still go out to watch this movie with friends.
5. Put down in comments if you think of any and share the blog with your friends.

Let us take the high road this time and bring forth a positive change!!! Share the message with your friends.
