A List of Most Awaited Summer Movies of 2017 With Trailers

The summer is upon us or in terms of the movie calender, the season of big blockbusters is here. Like every year, this summer is also filled with some great new stuff, including superheroes, sequels, laugh-out-loud comedies and some epic adventures. Here is a list of 24 of the biggest movies of this summer and what we can expect from them.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

After the huge success of the first Guardians of the Galaxy , Marvel brings everyone's favorite bunch of space misfits as they go on another journey with Starlord discovering about his father. It looks loads of fun and how adorable is Baby Groot, right?

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

Cast: Charlie Hunnam, Jude Law
Director: Guy Ritchie
Guy Ritchie takes on the tale of King Arthur and makes it look like an epic action-filled fantasy world with Charlie Hunnam as the titular character and Jude Law as his villianous uncle. We just hope it isn't as bad as the previous takes on the epic tale but then again, it's Guy Ritchie afterall.

Alien: Covenant

May 12
Cast: Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Billy Crudup
Director: Ridley Scott
Even though Prometheus received mixed reviews, Scott is back with the sequel that finally has the Alien feel to it. The trailers have promised us the terrifying Xenomorphs and it looks like an action-packed yet scary movie. Plus who doesn't like monstrous aliens in deep space.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Director: Joachim Rønning, Espen Sandberg
The seas are calling. Jack Sparrow is back and this time he has to go against Javier Bardem's terrifying Salazar. Even though, the last outings in the franchise has disappointed, it still has a strong fan following, mostly due to Depp's charismatic performance and Bardem's Salazar looks terrifying in all the right ways.

Baywatch

June 2
Cast: Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Priyanka Chopra
Director: Seth Gordon
If you happen to be a fan of the original Baywatch, then you are well aware of what you can expect from this movie. It's got The Rock, it's got beaches, lifeguards with godlike bodies , a lot of action and a lot of R-rated comedy. Also Priyanka Chopra is the big baddie.

Wonder Woman

June 2

Director: Patty Jenkins
We do have some problems with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice , but we can all agree Gal Gadot was incredible as Wonder Woman. DC's first female superhero movie is finally here and we can all agree that the trailers have us all pumped about it. Plus it has a fine cast and a really good director too.

Captain Underpants

Cast: Ed Helms, Kevin Hart, Thomas Middleditch
Director: David Soren
The bestselling comic strip of Captain Underpants is finally hitting theatres and apparently fans of the comics are really excited after the first trailer. And let's not forget that it stars some really good comedic talents like Kevin Hart, Ed Helms and Silicon Valley star Thomas Middleditch.

The Mummy

June 9
Cast: Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Russell Crowe
Director: Alex Kurtzman
The movie that is expected to kick-off Universal's Dark Monsters universe and what better way to start it than adding Box-Office darling Tom Cruise in it. Watch out for some cool visuals and Sofia Boutella as the terrifying Mummy.

Cars 3

LIghtning McQueen is back on the racetrack but looks like his time is running out as he faces a new younger opponent. If you're a Pixar fan and if you're a Cars fan, we are pretty sure this is in your watchlist for the summer.

Rough Night

Director: Lucia Aniello
Five women bring home a stripper and then the stripper dies. The premise might be a bit dull, but the cast is really strong and the trailer looks hilarious. Who knows, this might be the new Bridesmaids.

Transformers: The Last Knight

June 21
Cast: Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins, Josh Duhamel
Director: Michael Bay
Even though the franchise has a really low critics rating, it still has fans around the globe. Wahlberg returns for his second Transformers movie with Michael Bay. Optimus Prime has turned on against us and it's got all the things you want from a Transformers movie, lots of action, lots of explosions and wait, there's King Arthur too.

Baby Driver

Cast: Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx
Director: Edgar Wright
Edgar Wright has already made us laugh with Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz . This time he takes crime and humor together and gives us Ansel Elgort as the most charming getaway driver ever. Plus Kevin Spacey as the villian.

Despicable Me 3

Director: Pierre Coffin, Kyle Balda
Well it's got minions. Isn't that enough? Also Trey Parker of South Park fame.

The House

June 30
Cast: Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, Jason Mantzoukas
Director: Andrew Jay Cohen
When you got Saturday Night Live alumnus Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler together, it is bound to get funny. The trailer isn't really a sell, but it might still surprise you.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

July 7

Everyone's favorite friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is once again getting a new story. Holland has already charmed us with his performance in Captain America: Civil War and now he also has RDJ's Iron Man in the movie to mentor him. To top it all of, Michael Keaton, the Batman is the villianous Vulture.

War for the Planet of the Apes

July 14
Cast: Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Judy Greer
Director: Matt Reeves
Apes on horses! The battle isn't over yet. Is this going to be the end of an epic trilogy? The franchise hasn't disappointed us yet and once again the trailer looks promising and the visuals look so satisfyingly real. Serkis is back as Caesar and this time he will go against Harrelson as the angry and ruthless antagonist.

Atomic Blonde

Cast: Charlize Theron, Sofia Boutella, James McAvoy
Director: David Leitch
Just a reminder, the director's first movie was the surprisingly awesome John Wick . And it has Charlize Theron and we all know how great she was in Mad Max: Fury Road . Expectations are really high for this one.

Dunkirk

July 21
Cast: Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Ryland
Director: Christopher Nolan
It's Nolan afterall. It is expected to be en epic. Nolan's first war movie centers on the Dunkirk evacuation. The trailer looks mindblowing and well what else can be expected from the guy who gave us Inception and The Dark Knight .

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

July 21
Cast: Dane DeHaan, Cara Delavigne, Clive Owen
Director: Luc Besson
Besson takes on the highly acclaimed graphic novel and makes an epic sci-fi adventure with aliens, humans, some great action and really amazing CGI. Let's not forget this is the guy who gave us The Fifth Element .

The Dark Tower

August 4

Director: Nikolaj Arcel
Stephen King's acclaimed novel The Dark Tower finally makes it's big screen entrance with two of the finest actors pitted against each other. The movie has action, horror, sci-fi and even an Western feel to it, and all of this can be seen just in this amazing trailer.

The Emoji Movie

August 11
Cast: TJ Miller, James Corden, Patrick Stewart
Director: Tony Leondis
Well this isn't the most promising premise ever and the trailer is also meh. Atleast the cast looks pretty good. TJ Miller of Silicon Valley is in it and Patrick Stewart stars as the Poop emoji.

Annabelle: Creation

August 11

Director: David Sandberg
No one really liked the first movie but everyone loves The Conjuring movies and everyone is scared of this creepy doll. David Sandberg of Lights Out fame takes on the helm as the director and that seems the only promising thing for the movie. Maybe it turns out like Ouija: Origin of Evil .

The Hitman's Bodyguard

August 18
Cast: Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek
Director: Patrick Hughes
Deadpool is Nick Fury's bodyguard. No kidding! Reynolds and Jackson star as two rivals where they have to team up in order to save each other's life. The trailer itself has us all excited as we cannot wait to see these two kicking ass together.

Logan Lucky

August 18
Cast: Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, Daniel Craig
Director: Steven Soderbergh
The man behind the Ocean's trilogy brings back a new heist movie with some of your favorite people in totally new avatars. A one-armed Kylo Ren, a dimwitted Gambit(maybe?), a blonde James Bond and The Winter Soldier is a racer. Also Seth MacFarlane, the guy behind Ted and Family Guy, is in it too.
