15 Best and New TV Shows of 2016 That Might Just Went Under the Radar

2016 is gone and once again we have an array of new TV shows. Some hit it hard, some disappointed and some just went under the radar.
Here presenting 15 of the best new TV shows that came out in 2016 and made us want more.

1. Westworld

Starting the list with HBO's big hit of the year. The one that even made people think that it might be the next Game of Thrones . The show boasts a stellar cast consisting of Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Luke Hemsworth, Jeffrey Wright and ofcourse the brilliant Anthony Hopkins. The show is masterful mashup of sci-fi and western genres in a setting that will sure to give you thrills.

2. Stranger Things

If you love 80's sci-fi and horror and are a fan of the works of Spielberg, King or Carpenter, then this show and a bowl of popcorn will make the perfect evening for you. Set in the 80's, everything about the show pays homage to the golden period and especially the genre movies of that age. The show is scary, thrilling and has one of the perfect endings for a series in 2016.

3. American Crime Story

The legal trial that shook America. The trail of OJ Simpson was the most documented trail in the history of American history. And who other than Ryan Murphy to bring it to TV. The show told the story from the perspectives of the people involved in the trail and consisted of some of the best performances in TV including Sarah Paulson as Marcia Clark and Cuba Gooding Jr. as OJ Simpson.

4. Billions

Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis star in this smart and ambitious drama about an ongoing battle between an attorney and a hedge fund manager. The names of the two leads are enough to bring in audience and what you get is a thrill ride full of twists and major revelations.

5. Atlanta

Donald Glover is going high and he is not stopping. He serves as the producer, director, writer and as the lead for this hilarious comedy about two cousins who try to make it big in the Atlanta rap scene. The show might be the best comedy of the year with Donald Glover bringing in his best performance till date.

6. The Night Of

HBO's acclaimed miniseries is a dark crime drama focuses on a Pakistani-American student accused of murder, played by Riz Ahmed and his lawyer, John Turturro. While Turturro gives yet another great performance, Ahmed finally shines as a revelation in this Richly crafted thriller. If you are a fan of crime dramas, this is a must.

7. The Crown

Netflix's most expensive project The Crown came and swept people off their feet with it's immensely talented cast, the beautiful setting and it's great interpretation of one of the world's most important figures. The show is based on the early reign of Queen Elizabeth II, portrayed by Claire Foy, a performance which earned her a Golden Globe recently. The show has been praised for being one of the most historically accurate TV show in the recent past with some top-notch performances, especially Foy, John Lithgow and Matt Smith.

8. The OA

Another Netflix show that blew people's minds with it's strange yet amazing premise. The show is about a woman, played astoundingly by Brit Marling, who also co-wrote it. The show is exciting and you will be glued to your screens going to the next episode without getting up. It is addictive and definitely worth your time.

9. Better Things

The underrated comedy by Pamela Adlon and Louis CK got less love than it deserved. Starring Adlon in the lead as a divorced actress, who tries to raise three daughters herself, the show features a highly underrated performance by Adlon and some great performances by all the three child actors. If you are looking for some laugh, this will definitely make your evening.

10. Preacher

Created by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen and based on the popular comic series of the same name, this bizzare show features elements of horror, action, drama, violence and insane comedy. Basically something you can expect from the creator duo. The show also features the talented Dominic Cooper in the lead alongwith Ruth Negga and Jackie Earl Haley in one of his best performance till date.

11. This Is Us

While many family dramas tend to feature the same clichéd storyline, this show features a family drama that is somehow relatable and makes you care for the characters. The show is based on a pair of twins and their adoptive brothers and how their lives unfold over the years. The show also focuses on the early lives of their parents and the issues they dealt with, like the death of the third baby, alcoholism and certain other family issues. Featuring excellent performances by Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown and Crissy Metz, this is certainly going to make you reach for the tissues.

12. The Night Manager

Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie, together in a show, battling each other. Need I say more? The show based on the famous le Carre novel of the same name is one of the best spy thriller of 2016. It stars Hiddleston as an undercover agent who is tasked to infiltrate the dangerous world of a notorious arms dealer, played by Laurie and needless to say these two deliver some of their best performance till date with many even saying Hiddleston's performance to be an audition for James Bond.

13. The Young Pope

Jude Law stars as the first American Pope in the history, also being the youngest. Law's character is devious, calculating and scheming and defnitely spiritual. Like most of the times, Law once again brings in a power packed performance bringing in life to a well crafted character. The show also features strong performances by the likes of Diane Keaton, James Cromwell and Scott Shepard.

14. Insecure

The third show by HBO in the list by Issa Rae, is partially based on her popular web series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl . The show is straight-up hilarious, witty, raunchy and all kinds of fun with Rae stealing every scene with her presence and sharp wit and spirit.

15. Goliath

You can always count on Billy Bob Thornton to put on a powerful performance on TV, whether it e Fargo or in his latest show Goliath . If you are looking for a good legal drama and getting bored of the already clichéd stuff (Suits , ahem), then this is the show you must watch. Thornton once again puts on a brilliant performance as a washed up attorney with a new case and has already received a Golden Globe for his performance alongwith Maria Bello and William Hurt as standouts.
