Feel good film!
'Love stories are always epic!'
This time, Anurag Kashyap is behaving like a 2.0 version director and thus he made Manmarziyaan. The love triangle is set in Amritsar with Robbie, Rumi and Vicky!

Rumi played by Taapsee and Vicky Sandhu played by Vicky Kaushal are having very serious affair. They do Fyaar like mad lovers. When the family of Rumi came to know about them, Rumi asks Vicky to come for asking her hand. Somehow it doesn't happen. Meanwhile, her family finds a boy to do arranged marriage, which is played by Abhishek (Robbie). The fight between Fyaar and Pyaar begins. But what does Rumi do in choosing her life partner is what this film is about.

The essence is similar to like we had seen in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. We can see variety in the film because of Anurag. The concept of two silent girls showcasing the inner feelings of Rumi is very well used. Anurag made this movie to earn box-office figures which his movies didn't get any. But when I went for the first show, there were just 3 people in the capacity of 400 seats. That is awful! People should be ashamed of themselves. Feeling sorry for Anurag that his commercial attempt will never be a commercial success.

Biggest plus point is the pairing of Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu. Both have done great in this year itself. Both have delivered strong performances. No one else can be as strong as them. While Abhishek Bachchan is back after two years. That is why we can see him doing good on screen. Three are fine enough to spend some bucks on them this week.

Amit Trivedi is very underrated music composer. He has given many classic songs and albums. This one is being added to the Good Album list. Film is having 14 songs. Each song is required in the film. Songs which you have to listen are Daryaa, Dhyaanchand, Grey walaa shade, F for Fyaar, Chonch ladhiyaan & Jaisi teri marzi. Lyrics by Shelle is superb. 'Satluj Mein Ek Samndar Naache!'

Kanika Dhillon has written script, story and dialogues. Fresh writing is what people are appreciating in this film. Every confused lover should watch this film to open up about his or her Manmarziyaan.

On the whole, Anurag has made a delightful and watchable movie. Somehow post interval portion is slow compare to first one. Also, we can see the influence of Imtiaz Ali in the Honeymoon trip in Kashmir. Watch out this feel-good film for strong performances and Amit-Anurag combination.

Go with your eyes closed and let this film open you up completely!
Adapted from the Persian narrative poem- Layla and Majnun, this film is presented by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Ekta Kapoor and Preety Ali, starring Avinash Tiwari and Tripti Damri in lead. Laila Majnu is directed by Sajid Ali, while written by Imtiaz and Sajid.

Film is based in Kashmir. How a girl named Laila (Tripti), a typical flirt and filmy girl, finds her love interest in a rich-spoiled man Qais, is the startup of the film. But there is an issue regarding their fathers, so the marriage seems to be impossible. What will happen next in their lives that leads them in to the state of Laila-Majnu, is the thing to look out for.

Imtiaz Ali said in his interview that the music in Laila Majnu film should not have to be average, or below averag. Despite having unknown names in music credit, we are having one of the best albums of this year. Niladri Kumar and Joi Barua have given absolutely pure music which fits perfectly into the story as well as in Kashmir. Not only that, but the lyrics have been penned by Irshad Kamil. Thus, songs are literally talking to us so much while in the film, (or even after the movie, too!) and make us fall in love with the story. All songs are incredible. Ahista is the one song I will remember for giving me one of the strongest goosebumps ever. Laila, Tu, Sarphiri - all are fantastic. While in Hafiz song, the memory of Sadda Haq pops up in the mind. In fact, there are many portions when we went to that stages which we had seen in Imtiaz Ali's films. And somehow I know why!

Because, the transition is important in every film of Ali. While, here we are seeing possibly the biggest transition a man can have, like Qais to Majnu. This is where the film goes beyond the expectations, beyond the reach of our mental state, beyond all the boundaries. And it becomes the must see film. But only for those who believe in Imtiaz and his stories, or in poetic explanations, or in purity which love brings.

Laila a.k.a. Tripti is beautiful, adorable and truthful to her lover as well as her father. Though both are newcomers, the story and performance is such that we can feel for them. I found Avinash as Qais like average. But when he returned in the second half as Majnu is mind blowing. Every reviewer has mentioned about him and his performance. Because, he has done his part brilliantly. The complexity of Majnu has been implanted magically. Namaaz scene in that portion speaks a lot. Whole review can be written on that scene only, because it says a lot. Add one more plus point, which I completely forgot was the beautiful Kashmir. There are many scenes, but don't miss the first scene after interval. Magic is awaiting for you in theaters.

Kudos to Sajid Ali. Actually, the first half was not so great. It was just good. The things happening there which eventually lead the film to its most dramatic exploitation, were not to be missed. It looks like that there is nothing, but when the story strikes you, you feel for every bit of the film. If you are going for this one, go with open mindset. Close your eyes before the film, and let the film open your eyes as well as you completely. It will become your most valuable experience.

I don't care about box-office numbers. Even the makers of this film do not care, too. Art can never be perfect, that too in its purest form. This film is a pure art which makes it an imperfect one. If it is perfect, it can't be true love. Feel the madness of true love.

Horror Comedy + Though + Entertainment
The year 2018 is the best year for releasing new genre film in Bollywood. This Friday, three films had released in Gujarat, in which this Horror-Comedy film Stree is the best watch.

Directed by Amar Kaushik, it is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Raj-Dk. While, Raj & DK are writers of it. Starring Rajkumar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Aparshakti Khurrana & Pankaj Tripathi, Stree stands out as a winner.

Stree is based on the Indian urban legend, Nale Ba(don't come here) & Repu Ra (come back tomorrow). In the film, the story is about Chanderi and its ghost called Stree. She comes every year during the Pooja festival to take the revenge of her death and unsatisfied desires. So, these four nights are crucial for the people of Chanderi, as Stree attacks on men and takes them with her. The most common method to keep a Stree at bay, is to write a chant on the walls of the house, saying, “O Stree, Kal Aana”, which roughly translates to asking the spirit to come tomorrow, and when she does, she reads the chant again, making it a never-ending process. A house without this chant on its walls, has its men in danger as the spirit will definitely come for them. Who is this stree? What is her purpose? Why is she doing this? And what experiences have been faced by Rajkumar and others are the questions which have been answered in the film.

What can one say about Rao's performance! I mean, in every movie, he is going as strong as he can. And we are facing shortage of words describing him and his craft. Aparshakti and Pankaj Tripathi are as usual best. They will make sure that you will laugh out loud when they act. There is a cameo of Vijay Raaz as well. Shraddha is looking superb in the film. What is she playing, that I'm not gonna answer here!

Dialogues are fabulous. They're like cherry on the cake. Because there are some cuss words which have been mute, but then you can get it too. And which add the reality of characters in scary situation, like at the palace where Stree lives in. There you must have not behaved like a decent person. Kudos to the writers, from bringing a film based on this type of modern folklore. I am already impressed with them from Go Goa Gone itself. This is going to be a sure hit, will be remembered as a good film in their kitty. Though, the bus scene in the end brings out so many questions in my mind, will surely discuss with anyone about it. Or if possible, I would like to ask Raj & DK about it.

Music department is good. Though, the songs are not pushing the story ahead. That's why no songs in second half. Aao Haveli Pe suits perfectly. Kamariya and Dil Ka Darzi are watchable in the film. I have read some reviews saying that songs are minus point. But, hello, there are not a single whole song. 2 min song in between scenes, that too like there are just 3 songs, is fair enough.

This is the first movie of Amar Kaushik. After the so called struggle of 12 years, I'm happy for you that you made this film! Apart from horror and comedy, there are many scenes which tell the thought behind making this, or what to gain from this one. Especially, the last scene or the scene where men are so frightened by Stree that they're roaming in the city wearing saree, or staying at home. The reverse effect- I liked this scene so so much. The world is men dominating, but Stree should not be taken granted. Whatever upgrade versions we get for our gadgets, if our mindsets are not updating, we will become dinosaur soon.

Kudos to the whole team of Stree. Must watch. Scary, funny, thought provoking and the best part - Entertaining!

Good Commercial Cinema!
John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee starrer Satyamev Jayate is the perfect release for Independence Day week. The title itself says a lot! But, having said that, the story of the film is about fighting against corruption, and that too in a commercial way, so a good choice for audience to look upon. Directed by Milap Zaveri, it is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Nikhil Advani.

Film starts with John killing corrupt police officers. Manoj has given the job to find out the killer. Though, public is in full support for the killer as he is just cleaning the garbage from the system. How far the mission will go and what's the motto behind that- are the questions which will be answered in the run time.

Dialogues are the major plus factor of this film. The lines in the conversation between John and Manoj are fantastic. Screenplay and story by Milap Zaveri give you a good amount of entertainment. There are lot's of twists and turns throughout the film. Hence, it is a good commercial movie after a long time.

John has done his job finely. But Parmanu was better for sure. Manoj is good. Newcomer, Aisha Sharma delivers a good performance. Every character has its own identity through his dialogues. And for that, we have to thank Milap for sure.

There are only three songs. Dilbar, Tere Liye and Tajdar-E-Haram are fine and suitable to the script. I must say, Dilbar is a fine remake version of the original. The fight sequence in Tajdar-E-Haram is the best in the entire movie. I heard lods of whistles and shouts during that portion.

On the whole, if you are searching for a commercial cinema which can be worthy to your money as well as gives you a good story then watch Satyameva Jayate. Enjoy the film with whistles and shouts in the hall.

Hindi Cinema's Pride in this era
Some films have the ability to keep the standard which the trailer had set. Some can even increase the bar, too. Karwaan is one such movie which definitely takes place in both these category.

Dulquer Salmaan is debuting in Bollywood, along with Mithila Palkar and the legendary actor Irrfan! Director Akarsh Khurana takes us in the ride which teaches us the meaning of life in a very subtle way. No burden, just chill!

'Main Akela Hi Chala Tha Janib-E-Manzil Magar, Log Saath Aate Gaye Aur Kaarwaan Banta Gaya!' This is a couplet by Majrooh Sultanpuri, which is used here on the jeep, on which DQ and Irrfan start their journey of picking up the right body by exchanging the wrong one. The adventures are there to welcome all of us.

Irrfan is such a charismatic actor. How can a person make audience laugh everytime when he's on the screen! I mean, in a minute, if he comes like 4 times, then every 4 times we laugh a lot. This is his last movie before going to America for cancer treatment. So, guys don't miss the chance.

DQ is a superstar in Malyalam Cinema. He plays his character with maturity. No superstar can play this type of role so subtly. The transition which his character takes is awesome. Though, this character is similar to many people whom I know. The complexity of a father and son relationship is never described so gently like this. Every father and son should watch this character to understand the unsaid things about that relationship.

Mithila Palkar plays a character of a girl who reflects the modern girl of the new era. She is as usual fantastic. Her bond with her mother, or even with her maternal grandmother is rare and rich. There are many things which we can take from the film to enhance our day-to-day life. For that, just a watch is needed.

Music is so fresh that I liked all songs. Chhota Sa Fasana by Arijit Singh is soulful. While, Heartquake by Papon is full-on masti song as per what the story needs at that point. The cinematography by Avinash Arun is too good, that too in the greenery of Ooty and Kochi. Many scenes are there in the movie which can be used as a wallpaper or a cover picture for sure.

Akarsh Khurana is a debutant director. And from the very first movie, he gonna make many fans, including me. Written by Bejoy Nambiar, this film is something one can watch it over and over again whenever one is depressed or stressed out. The film has a charging plug which gives you the voltage you required at that time. The dialogues in the prayer are fabulous. The terms of Mom and Dad are explained finely. Although, there are many unique one liners as well. Like my most favorite one is by Irrfan, saying 'Tere Liye To Main Sabzi Bhi Khaa Loon!'

Conversation with foreigners, Shayari sequence at hospital, chatting with an old man with Shehnaai, even usage of Shehnaai in the background at a seriously funny scene, the Rumi Talk, and so on.... These are some scenes which truly touched my heart or my lungs through laughing!

I can't find any minus point. I enjoyed it immensely. Ratings, reviews and collection- all are fantastic. Hence, this is one of the best Hindi Films. Will be watched over and over and over, again!

Court Room scenes are fabulous. Ashutosh + Taapsee
This film is a court-room drama where a Muslim family has been accused of supporting terrorism when one of the member of that family got shot down by ATS for doing bomb blast in Banaras. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, this film is having over the top casting such as Rishi Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, Manoj Pahwa, Rajat Kapoor & Ashutosh Rana.

After witnessing the day-to-day drama in real life, this story came out from Anubhav. A boy (Pratiek) is indulging in a criminal activity. Because of that, how his family suffers in their own homeland, is described in the film very subtly.

The film reaches in the top gear when court room scenes start. The prosecutor lawyer (Ashutosh Rana) and defense lawyer (Taapsee) lead the film there after to a very satisfying answer and judgement.

People who believe in humanity will surely like the film. For those who need to witness best court room drama, this is the best choice. For those who want to see great performances, just believe me that after watching it you'll feel like giving all the awards to Taapsee Pannu as well as Ashutosh Rana. These two have given their more than 100%.

Somehow I feel the softness is missing. The factor which can make us believe that this is a real family, not a reel one, is missing, too. But when you see last hearing of the case, you will forget everything.. It is possibly the best climax of any court room drama movie.

On the whole, for over the top performances and a sincere attempt by Anubhav, it is surely a must watch film. Just open up your mindset, and be there with every Indian, without considering its caste. 3.5*.

Diljit rocks! Ishq Di Baajiyaan, too!
Another biopic of this year is released this Friday. Based on the life of Former Captain of Indian Men's Hockey Team, Sandeep Singh, who is also known as Flicker Singh, this biographical movie is directed by Shaad Ali.

Film covers events of Sandeep's life that made him the star he is Today. After an accidental gunshot injured him in 2006, he was paralyzed. But once a warrior, always a warrior. So, he bounced back with a bang. And that's why this film is called Soorma, meaning warrior.

Diljit Dosanjh plays the titular role of Sandeep Singh Soorma. Taapasee Pannu is there as his love interest whose influence made him to join hockey in early days. The chemistry between these two is superb. I loved the love song featuring these two. It is indeed this year's best love song!

Diljit Paaji is as usual fantastic. Some character needs simplicity as well as complexity, and Diljit has given perfectly as per the requirement. Taapasee looks adorable and acts fine in her role. Satish Kaushik and his on screen brother are good to see. Kulbhushan Kharbanda is good. Special mention for Vijay Raaz. Whenever he comes on screen, public will laugh and enjoy! He is the true entertainer. Good job by him as Sandeep's coach.

Music by Shankar Ehsan Loy trio and lyrics by Gulzar sahab are again on the right track. After the soulful songs in Raazi, here they are giving us some hardcore Punjabi songs. Ishq Di Baajiyaa is one of the most pure and realistic songs one can ever make. Soorma Anthem is good, too. Pardesiya is very soulful. Singers of this song are contestants of Rising Stars where Diljit and Shankar appear as judges.

I was expecting a lot form Shaad Ali. Thus, I am disappointed with him. Ok Jaanu was a superb movie, but it's not up to that mark. Film lacks in some parts. It is slow paced, so the fault is in the screenplay. However, it can not be in the best biopics ever made. Though, it surely is an one time watch film to know the story of Sandeep Singh.

Film will manage to recover its cost of making. It is not a bad movie, just not a solid one. So, whoever will watch it, will give a thumps up for sure. You will surely love the equation between Diljit and Pannu. Get inspire from the legend! 3.5/5
