I read The Martian, and while I was reading it learned that Mark Watney would be played by Matt Damon in the movie. I cannot imagine a more perfect actor to play Mark Watney, with his can do smart ass attitude. The film doesn't have everything that was in the book, but it does have almost everything. Like the Lord of the Rings, I'm not sure when I've been so happy about an adaptation of a book. And the Elrond Council bit with Sean frickin' BEAN in the room. Priceless. Absolutely amazing moment.
I thought the casting was particularly good all around. My only quibble is with Chiwetel as Vincent Kapoor. I adore Chiwetel, I really do. But for the love of all that is holy, there are... |
