Downton Abbey is a costume drama, set in the fictional estate of Downton (Yorkshire). The plot is based on the life of the members of the aristocratic Crawley family, who are forced to brave the unforeseen and endure the unbearable. The period on which the series is based, is the Edwardian era where the society stood on the brink of plunging into a brave new world where the old ways of life will be shattered, beliefs will be remodeled, and notions of society and morality will be altered.
