The Test Case (2017)

The Test Case was one of the most anticipated web series coming out of India. It starred legit Bollywood celebrities like Juhi Chawla, Nimrat Kaur, Rahul Dev, Atul Kulkarni and others.
Captain Shikha Sharma is in the army. She signs up to become part of the Special Forces, an elite army unit that experiences action. Of course, the country and the army are split in their decision and whether Shikha succeeds in doing what she’s planning to forms the story. The Test Case is ALTBalaji’s pride, and it’s evident in every frame.
Nimrat Kaur is excellent as Shikha Sharma, the confident soldier who’s still getting a grip on what’s going on – and how she could be part of not just the army’s but also the country’s history. And to add perspective to it, she’s surrounded by a cast that’s evolved with good performances.
What stands out in The Test Case is the way the concept is tackled and more importantly the screenplay that doesn’t celebrate its protagonist but opens her up to the audience to accept or disagree, warts and all.
The way Shikha fails at the obstacles and doesn’t complete all objectives makes the character and the series more relatable and realistic. Though the series is based in an army camp, it’s less of a lesson on army life and more of a taut thriller.
The Test Case has an interesting story that makes it an imminently watchable web series.

There are seldom such web series made which are more than merely romance in the air and stars in the sky. This story is brewed with the fresh enthusiasm of Shikha who'd go to any lengths and breadth to achieve the impossible. There's the struggle of a zealous and passionate person who's restricted to limits because she is a woman. With every new episode, we see a new avatar of Nimrat Kaur who had beautifully portrayed the inspiring twinkle in the eye of women who's dream is to make their nation and family, proud.
If your are a sucker of drama that is patriotic, this is your goosebumps station. Stop, get off, watch, shed few tears of joy and love, you can go back with a proud heart.

The Test Case is a unique story which hasn't been narrated in any Indian film or TV show yet. From the pilot episode of this 10 episodes web-series, we get a hint about the hardships Nimrat Kaur's character has to face in the all-men territory of the army.The struggles range from tolerating sexist jokes, sharing showers with naked, ogling men, putting up with the toxic masculinity and fragile egos and finally, getting sexually assaulted.With Time’s Up and #MeToo taking over our social media timelines and real life conversations, this is as close an art form has come to addressing and discussing it in our side of the world. Workplace harassment is a nightmare to go through and reporting it is not as easy as many make it out to be. With The Test Case, our lead knows that even reporting a crime like sexual assault doesn’t go without punishing the victim.
