Shawshank Redemption is one of those feel good movies about friendship and betrayal. But what marks it apart from the rest is it's in-convoluted plot-line and some power packed performances by Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins.

The Shawshank redemption is one of the most touching and emotional films ever made. The script is so powerful and thought-provoking and I cry every single time I have the pleasure of watching this masterpiece again. The acting performances are flawless and this is hands down Morgan Freemans best film.

I feel that his movie is highly underrated and thought of as just another "new guy in prison" type of movie but, the messages of friendship portrayed makes this movie one in a million. The movie chronicles Andy Dufrasne, a man wrongly convicted of the murder of his wife and her lover. He meets "Red" a man who can get "anything for anybody" which is a common role in prison movies he even says, "there must be one like me in every prison". These friends which shows unlikeness help save each other in the end, Andy saves Red's soul, which was calloused from prison life and Red saved Andy, teaching him all he needed to know about prison life.
Although there is some lude remarks and alcohol consumption in this movie, the good definitely outweighs the bad in this case. (SPOILER ALERT) If you have ever seen a prison movie ending then you know the ending to The Shawshank Redemption. Both Andy and Red gain redemption in a dismal, dark prison by doing good deeds for one another. As you know, Red will escape Shawshank, Andy will escape Shawshank, but your soul will never escape The Shawshank Redemption.
Overall this film is disturbing, sad, great, happy and violent all at the same time and is a great film with great actors and a great story line.

What a movie. The casting, the acting; everything in this movie is so on point.

Tim Robbins is a branch manager of a bank however he is accused of killing his own wife and sent to jail. However the thing that I liked most about the movie was the narration by Andy's friend starring Morgan Freeman. It just seemed so refreshing and I enjoyed thoroughly. The best part of the movie was the two key suspense in the movie ... the first about being a hole in the wall of prison and secondly , hwat exactly was in the envelope that Andy left for his friend. No wonder its the highest rated movie on imdb.

I truly recommend this movie to everyone out there irrespective of their choice of movie. You will need an open mind and broader perspective to watch this movie. It feeds most of our emotions and I promise you won't regret watching this movie. It's a #mustWatch .

One of the movies which has an impact on your insight of the phenomena called life. Very few movies have that ability to set audience to think, to change, to learn and inspire. Shawshank has an outstanding example of 'Hope' and it's role in life, this movie is a must watch for every human being on planet Earth. No matter what our lives are made of, this movie will surely will help you to set your mind and heart to a thing called hope and work towards it.

The perfect movie. I watched this one directly after my 10th board exams, and had no idea about the storyline whatsoever.
Imagine this, you come back from your final board paper and the same night go watch this movie. What a beautiful movie, what a touching message. And the narration from Morgan Freeman is just out of this world. A simple but still revolutionary movie.

Yes, there is wisdom everywhere. It's in colleges and Church but it is practical and tangible in...you heard us right- Jail.
This is the story of someone who goes to jail for something that he is not even guilty of; God can really troll us sometimes. On a serious note, this man toughens up, learns about the brutal reality of life and its many little ruthless sides; which he is not really used to, meets another wise prisoner and together they plan to break free.
The movie is not really about prison as much as it is about corruption in the police system back in the day and the stone-cold, unfeeling ways in which criminals go through punishments, that sometimes they do not deserve. It is all so much about the individual freedom and the right to speak up, to act, and to live life with all it's dignity and usefulness in any situation or place; to make optimum use of intellect and rise above the intricate system of senselessness.
The movie is a classic and it's tone is grave and suggestive. The plot moves meaningfully and is well connected. We get to learn a lot about the prison system of America a few decades ago and how intellect transcends all.

This movie really stands upto the standard of the best movie ever made and the top movie on IMDB. The portrait of the characters is just awesome...

Needless to say, it's is one of those awesome movies like The Green Mile which not only leaves an impact but also leaves you with a feeling of satisfaction. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, with their impeccable acting does not disappoint at any point of time. One need's patience and undivided attention to watch the full movie, but with such sequences and interesting plot, one couldn't ask for more. I'd say its the Sholay of Hollywood.
