Beauty with brains
'Hey Prabhu!' does precisely curates certain some shiny elements just to attract young crowd, but it is powered by impressive writing at the heart. It's a palatable blend of "cool" twitter-ing superficiality and a meaningful plot and characters.

Tarun Prabhu (Rajat Barmecha), an average Joe with a passion for writing just got hired as an intern for a reputed media company 'croissant', solely because of an ace up his sleeve, the fact that he is a social media influencer with over a hundred thousand followers makes him an indispensable entity for his technologically backward employer, Mita (Achint Kaur). Mita is a conscientious editor, a perfectionist and a strong proponent of the classics. She feels her work ethics to be too pure to acknowledge a charade like Instagram or twitter flooding with amateur content. Mita is an interesting study and a multidimensional character like most well-developed characters in the show. Tarun grapples with work and his personal life on his journey to voice himself as a serious writer.

Inarguably, the best part of the show has to be casting. The fact that Tarun is a pretty regular guy and not some steroid riddled hunk, makes for a very resonating and real experience. The show is witty, engrossing and leaves you wondering what happens next. It's a great watch with a light-hearted disposition.

Hey Prabhu! is the first web series that MX player originals came up with. The show stars Rajat Barmecha as its lead role. He plays the role of Tarun Prabhu who is a so-called millennial in the age of twenties with a huge social media following. It shows how youngsters are fooled assuming the things in social media are more like one's professional or personal life. It shows that achieving success in life is not a child’s play instead it needs a lot of hard work. Tarun sees things completely upside down. His mom and dad are always after him pointing out his mistakes. After long, Tarun finally gets a job in a magazine called "Croissant”. Tarun’s life which until now was quite content becomes chaotic and he ends up messing his work. After this, the story continues showing how he manages his life with all the hardships. I would totally recommend this show as it is an Indian comedy-drama along with some inspirational content. All the episodes are now streaming on MX player app, check them out.

Tarun Prabhu is a millennial social media influencer who hasn’t yet come face to face with the hardships in life. After he gets a job at a prestigious magazine, he is pulled out of his comfort zone and has to work hard to stabilize his professional life, while also handling problems in his personal life at the same time. How Tarun handles all this is what forms the rest of the series.
'Hey Prabhu' is one of the rare web series that has an intelligent script and wants to handle the protagonist’s personal as well as work life with crackling speed and laser sharp precision. The screenplay’s intelligent and weaves an entirely believable day and life of a media intern. The screenplay also portrays the gender gap between the millennials and the business owners and parents in a non-preachy manner. There are some insights, like when Tarun experiences his first social media outing the same day that his mom wants him to delete a tweet that she considers personal – because one of their distant relatives follows Tarun on the social network.
'Hey Prabhu' also winds up the personal life and the professional life of the protagonist in a believable manner. The show is cleverly written, with witty jokes and dialogues sprinkled all over. It is also a commentary on the youth’s obsession with social media, and how it all seems perfect online, but real life is a struggle for everyone.
