Gentefied (2020)

Gentefied is a beautiful mix of both comedy and drama that takes place in the neighborhood of East Los Angeles.



Casimiro is an owner of a small restaurant that sells tacos called Mama Fina's Tacos He's helped in running the place by his grandkids Chris, Erik and Ana. Chris is frequently refered to as "white washed" by his cousin Erik considering their ethinicity. Chris also spends his day working for a porch restraunt with a racist white chef. Erik the hot head who's faced many hardship in his life compared to his cousins spends his whole day working at Mama Fina's Tacos. Ana,an artist often finds it hard to paint what really inspires her as she fears being judged by the community for being queer and really expressing herself. They all come together when the real estate owner threatens to evict them from the property or double the rent instead.



The details of the show are very well put together, sometimes in fact eye catching and heart touching. But honestly the show felt a little racist towards the Americans. It felt like the show tried to outrun racism in the latino community by being racist to Americans. But overal the show is bound to give you a good laugh but side by side forecasts the brutal reality of the society we live in.
