Aiyaar ki aiyaary !

This is a spy thriller by one of Indian’s best director’s neeraj pandey.

Starring Manoj Bajpayee and Siddharth Malhothra and Rakul Preet singh, this is a movie about the Indian army, its covert ops and spies.

As such, the film starts out great and then has a strong first half. The music is reminiscent of BABY and is put to good use.

Both the leads are quite strong in their roles and the tale of army intelligence vs corrupt officers is well setup in the first half.

Then we come the weak portion of the film, the second half doesn’t fully deliver on the setup of the first half. The story meanders a bit, before come down to some clichés… not to mention an over long dialog scene with naseeruddin shah is SO LONG that people in the theatre got bored. Can’t fault them, in a tight thriller, there is no time for such a long dialog scene, which ultimately did not have much content.

This film is not one of the director’s best. BABY, Dhoni, Special 26, etc were better.

This is worth a one-time watch for Spy movie aficionados.

Overall :

This movie has believable technology, good eye to detail, the plot holes are more or less missing. So its logical and smart, but its not exciting in the second half.

Rating : 6/10. For a solid thriller which could have been more tense in the climax!
