Wake Up Sid (2009)

Bollywood rarely makes a movie like Wake up sID , a coming of age movie that captures the life of a young charming and filthy rich brat ( on second thoughts, not so bratty ) called Sid Mehra.
A care free young man who has absolutely no idea about his future. The movie takes its time to establish its protagonist through a series of events and a song. At the same time he meets Aisha a more serious girl who is new to the city. Sid quickly furnishes a bond with her , and later she becomes a mentor like figure for Sid from which he learns nuggets of life and relationships. She offers him never before seen perspectives of life and changes his views about everything.
Even though this is a pretty standard plot for any movie of this genre, its the soulful execution of debutante director Ayan Mukerji that takes the movie to new heights . Ayan crafts light hearted scenes with occasional humor and mild emotions and music by SEL adds more charm to the movie.
But the real winner here is Ranbir Kapoor who meticulously portrayed the character of Sid mehra , he nails the character completely.
An excellent movie for all youngsters out there !!

Ranbir kapoor starring Wake Up Sid, is not something new but it keeps you engaged by its simple story line. This movie conveys view on self-realizaton. Konkona Sen Sharma (Aisha) has done her role in a pleasing way. Cinematography at its best, that makes everything in the movie feel good. Light-hearted movie that leaves precipitate of motivation. Credits to Ayan Mukherjee and his team!
