Samay: When Time Strikes (2003)

An interesting twist of action and thrill, Robby Grewal continues to stun his audience with this 2003 movie, Samay. The movie didn’t make it well, commercially, but it is definitely worth a watch. With Sushmitha Sen in the lead, this movie not only made her a versatile actor but also thrilled the audience. With a brilliant script and storyline, Samay beat most of the thriller Bollywood movies made, well even now.
However, as every Bollywood movie, the story is a little slow in the first half, but it increases the suspense and curiosity in the audience throughout. Even though it’s probably an old movie as we think of it now, but it’s definitely worth a watch for those who haven’t seen it. This is a re-make of the Hollywood movie, Se7en which did fairly good in the theatres as well. But for all the Sushmitha Sen fans, and those who aren’t too, I think, this was her best movie, in her career till now.
With a brilliant concept and script, the lighting and sound effects complimented the movie. Though this was more of a flop, when seen commercially, but it is enjoyed by everyone, be it kids, teens, adults or even senior citizens. Sushmitha Sen has done a tremendous job, playing the job of a single mother and being both, the man and woman of her house. The movie also talks about how she tries to catch this serial killer on the loose, with the various pressures in her life, as she not only runs her house, but also serves her country to the best of her strength. The smart and intelligent Ms. Sen has lived up to the expectations of the viewers, and has in-turn inspired all the women who watched the movie too.

One of the best crime thrillers i have ever seen. Indian version of Se7en but intelligently modified. It is captivating and gripping right from the word go.Just 1 song,brilliant sountrack, tight script, sleek direction and Sushmita Sen’s finest performance escalated the movie to a different level.
