Hello! (2017)

Two words : Hats off. A bengali webseries that can be THIS good. Sorry, being a bengali myself, I underestimated my own people. I guess that's what happens when you ensemble a group of terrific cast like Raima Sen, Priyanka Sarkar, Joy Sengupta and some brilliant writing and cinematography. The boldness of the content is pretty shocking for such a conservative backdrop of the story. Every scene makes you go, "Wait, what just happened?"

One extra marital affair and one mms starts off this devilish journey towards the truth. The mystery is nail biting and every single scene woven together beautifully. Just over 15 minutes per episode and only 8 episodes long, it's interesting to watch how organisedly the story unfoldes in such a short time span.

If you don't fimd any good reasonto watch the show, watch it solely for gaping at Raima aka Nandita. She is a marvellous sight in the attire of a typical 'Bonedi barir' bou, mother of two and a loving wife. And Priyanka is a ball hit out of the park with Nina, the other woman in Anonyo's life. She has compelled me to hate her with every fibre of my being. That's how strong her performance is.

The ending, though I am not so sure, will be how many people's cup of tea. Though it was my cup of tea, it fell a bit flat compared to the amount of excitement it had created previously. But I am ready to overlook that just because the the entirety of the show is such a thrilling ride.

Set in the backdrop of durga pujo, it brings out every flavour of both urban and old school Bengali. So if you are a bengali, watch it to excite that inner feluda in you or just simply because it will give you the 'pujo pujo feel'. And if you are a non-bengali, then watch it to marvel at the wit and intensity that a bengali posseses. And ofcours, for Raima.
