The manifolds of a woman
Sagar Sarhadi rose his voice against the culture of "buying of the girl/bride" prevalent during that time, his efforts were supported by the powerful performances of Smita Patil, Naseeruddin Shah, Farooq Sheikh, Raj Babbar and Supriya Pathak. The story was based in Hyderabad and depicted perfectly the struggles faced by women of that time. The fact that it held both sides of the coin made it one of the most powerful feminist movies of all time. In Supriya Pathak, people connected with the innocent victim who was sacrificed for the good of her siblings and in Smita Patil, they saw a women who was manipulated into ripping her own flesh (Farooq Sheikh) away from his true love, all for the promise of a happy ending.
