Babies and Movies are two things that no one in the world can produce with the pace that we Indians do. Tough the quality of what we produce may be debatable. But if this is the land on which Kamaal R. Khan was born, then this is the very land which gave birth to people like Sundar Pichai and if this is the land on which movies like Humshakals are made , then this is the very land on which gems like A Wednesday are made.
The year 2015 was no different. Bollywood produced almost 1600 films this year and it was a mixed bag of good, bad and surprising films. Here is a review of the year 2015 in the form of good, bad and surprising:

The Good

These movies were the ones which were outstanding and original and showed how good Bollywood is:-

1. Baby

This thriller featuring Akshay Kumar was a gem that rarely comes in Bollywood. With its fast pace, air tight editing and intricate yet error less plot, it kept you engaged and excited.

2. Piku

This heart warming and honest portrayal of a father-daughter relationship became a hit as many people could relate to it. The acting of Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan was also a major reason behind its success.

3. Bajrangi Bhaijaan

This was undoubtedly Salman Khan's best work till date. This heart touching story was portrayed beautifully on screen with picturesque locations, good music and good acting. No doubt this was a commercial success too.

4. Badlapur

It was the best crime thriller to come out of Bollywood. It took the theme of revenge and gave it a dark touch and the result was commendable. The acting by Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the direction and the music made it a must watch.

5. Drishyam

It was an incredibly well written thriller with one of the most innovative story line. It was a fast paced, edge of seat thriller which didn't let you loose interest for one second.

6. Tanu Weds Manu Returns

It was one of the highlights of 2015. Kangana Ranaut was phenomenal in her double role and kept the audience smiling along with R. Madhavan and Deepak Dobriyal. Various Indian cultures were captured with perfection in this heart warming love story.

The Bad

These are the movies we can blame for poverty in India. Had they not been made, we could have fed various poor people.

1.Khamoshiyan - Silences have Secrets

It was the prime example of how poorly Bollywood handles the supernatural genre. The acting was uninspired and it looked as if a doll could act better. Th VFX used for spooking the viewers made the viewer laugh and reminded you of some idiotic horror TV show.

2.Roy

This thriller was the most confusing movie of the year and the director too seemed confused as to what it wanted to show. The banal narrative, uninspired direction and acting made it so boring that even Ranbir Kapoor and good music couldn't save it.

3.Welcome Back

The sequel to the hit movie Welcome was nothing like its predecessor. This one was boring and not funny at all and to top it all acting was not at par with the previous installment.

4.Jazbaa

You expect great things from a movie that stars Aishwarya Rai and Irrfan Khan but unfortunately all our expectations were reversed as this one turned out to be a boring and pathetic venture.
You realize something is wrong when Irrfan Khan recites such dialouges

5.Hate Story 3

Though, the trailer managed to generate a lot of buzz in youth, the movie turned out to be a flop. Boring story, bad direction and uninspired acting made it a dull affair. Though the songs were good but the were ill placed in the movie and their only work was to accommodate the erotic scenes.

6.Phantom

The movie was a slow and boring thriller which seemed to be oversimplified at times. The performance from Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif were poor making the film a disastrous venture.

The Surprising

These were movies which had certain wow factors and surpassed our expectations while some were below the level of expectation.

1.Detective Byomkesh Bakshy

This period thriller was the most technically sound movie to come out of Bollywood this year. The complex story was depicted on screen with utmost precision and class. The fast narrative and good background music kept you hooked till the very end. The pre-independence Calcutta was so well made that you could feel yourself transcend to that time.

2.Any Body Can Dance 2

This movie may not have been so good story wise but it did surprise us with some killer moves in the dancing sequences and the 3-D effects were world class.

3.Talvar

It was a low budget movie inspired by a famous murder case(everyone is smart enough to understand which case). The movie was well paced and was very detailed in the way it covered different aspects of the crime. Irrfan Khan held the movie together with his awesome acting.

4.Masaan

It was another low key movie which was very good. It showcased two stories which dealt with many social stigmas in our society with utmost sincerity and later joined the two stories with a master stroke. The impeccable acting by all its actors made the movie look like the mirror image of our society.

5.Dum Laga Ke Haisha

It was one of the best love stories of the year. Featuring an unconventional pairing, this movie showed the lives and issues of the middle class and the problems faced by fat people with a certain humility. There were many funny one liners and Ayushmaan did well as the reluctant groom.

6.Shamitabh

It was a brave attempt by director R.Balki who tried something unique and commendable. This movie deals with the problems arising due to ego clash and Dhanush and Amitabh Bachchan did justice to their roles.
