The perfect movie. I watched this one directly after my 10th board exams, and had no idea about the storyline whatsoever. Imagine this, you come back from your final board paper and the same night go watch this movie. What a beautiful movie, what a touching message. And the narration from Morgan Freeman is just out of this world. A simple but still revolutionary movie.
Absolutely loved it. This is first and only film I've watched in an IMAX theater, and the experience was well worth it. The effects were stunning and the music was amazing as well. This would've been a 5/5 movie for me had it not been for that "love-transcends-all" segment, I hated that part. But yes, well worth all the hype it had prior to its release. Nolan has delivered again.
Different. That is the only way I can describe Arrival.
The 'Arrival' of a dozen or so UFOs on earth sparks a major frenzy, and the US government takes the help of a high school language professor and physicist to communicate with the aliens. Their ultimate goal is to find out why they paid Earth a visit. The difficulty- the aliens use a different language, of course, and it is nothing like anything humans have ever seen.
The movie is different from other mainstream alien movies. The language bit is very interesting to follow. But I felt the direction to be lacking, several scenes were a bit too slow, and the twist ending could've been shown a bit better.
A mind-fuck is the only way one can describe the first season of Westworld. And given that the direction comes from Johnathan Nolan, Christopher Nolan's brother, it isn't much of a surprise. The cast, especially Sir Anthony Hopkins, all deliver a memorable performance. The dialogues are perfect, and the plot itself is frankly one of the best I've seen in any TV show. In my opinion, Westworld's first season is the best first season of any TV-show, ever.
And if you want any proof of Anthony Hopkins's genius, just go watch the video posted below.
I went in to watch Haider without any real expectations. I was blown away. The grim and realistic portrayal of Kashmir's problems really struck a chord. This is undoubtedly Shahid Kapoor's best performance, and Tabu is great, as always. Haider for me is one of the best bollywood movies of the last decade.
The show is set as a kind of satire on the social-awkwardness of nerds, and really delivers. The acting is something to behold. The show follows 5 brilliant computer engineers living in Silicon Valley who together want to make their start-up into a mega company.
