Some amount of work has gone into making ‘Youngistaan’ somewhat believable as a film about a young man who is propelled into the nation’s highest political seat, not because he wants to but because he is not given an option.
Sounds familiar? Many familiar events and political figures pop up, lightly fictionalised, in this story, which gives us a young leader with ideas on harnessing youth power. And how he goes from being a total greenhorn into a smart ‘neta’ who learns how to catch the pulse of a tumultuous, pulsating, on-the- verge-of-polls-India
The fact that the Lok Sabha elections are around the corner in real India is smart timing. And attempts have been made to include some hot button issues and images: watch Abhimanyu Kaul (Jackky Bhagnani), hitting the campaign trail, having a frugal meal with a group of village women. Or a defence minister being caught by the CBI for having taken ‘kickbacks’ in a deal. Or getting potential thorns out of the way by giving them posts which are more ceremonial than anything else. And parties that are called ‘ABKP’ and ‘UDA’.
All of these little threads and a few other intrigues make ‘Youngistaan’ an interesting watch, but only up to a point. After a while, the pace slackens, and the focus gets diluted. The fact that a 28 year-old-Prime Minister `lives in’ with his girl-friend (Neha Sharma) whom he has no intention of marrying till both are good and ready, has freshness to begin with. A few amusing episodes are woven in when she flies off the handle for various reasons and the poor fellow has to come running to hold her hand, abandoning the running of the nation.
But instead of building on it, and opening meaningful dialogue on thorny issues (are ‘live-in relationships’ bad things; how the personal becomes public, and so on), it all becomes improbable and a tad costume-drama amateurish. The insertion of the romantic-funny bits have obviously been made to keep the self-same ‘young’ that the film targets in their seats. Serious stuff like elections and polls ( there is mention of the ‘Aadhar card’, and ‘badlaav’, and a star TV anchor is called ‘Mr Parnab’ or some such) is presumably too heavy. The film, despite its efforts, becomes muddled, and dull.
The one I enjoyed watching most was the late Farooque Shaikh, who plays the young politician’s mentor and friend. Shaikh has a large role, and he plays it with his customary humour and grace, lending much-needed gravitas to this film. This ‘youngistaan’ will always remember him with love and affection.

Bollywood is a domain where, almost every week, a new character 'takes birth'. There have been many instances wherein the film's characters have become evergreen icons and names to reckon with. The day and date of August 15, 1975 will always be memorable for the cinema lovers as that was the day when the iconic 'Gabbar' (of SHOLAY) took birth on silver screen. GABBAR IS BACK happens to be the 'name-esis' of the famous character 'Gabbar',lets analyse the impact it made.
As far as the performances are concerned, no prizes for guessing that the captain of the ship is none other than Akshay Kumar, the man who mouths the eternal dialogue 'Naam villain ka, kaam hero ka'. He is having a role befitting larger than life persona suiting a typical Bollywood Hero. He is earnest and it is clear that he believes in the actions of the protagonist. Shruti Haasan, on her part, has this silly obsession with 'Google' facts that stops being funny after a point of time and lands up being irritating. At the same time, one cannot deny the fact that even though she has a small role, she looks beautiful. The pace of the movie is leisurely and it's only towards the end that it picks up pace. Rajat Aroraa's dialogues are catchy in parts. While the film loses its pace in the first half, it regains it in the second half. Average entertainer movie with catchy massy title. If you are sick and tired of corruption in India, then, you shall find GABBAR IS BACK inspiring, else you may find it as the same other Bollywood movies.

A daily soap filled with lots of fun, masti, drama with no unnecessary rona dhona. Both young and old enjoyed the show. The chemistry between the lead pair Khushi (Sanaya) and Arnav(Barun) made this show more gripping. As I said the chemistry between them made us all glued to the TV for half an hour but for girls another reason to be sticked can be the lead actor Barun Sobti, a heartthrob with perfect looks, amazing dialogue delivery and a charming style and smile too. :P
I LOVE to HATE the villain of the show Shyam Manohar Jha( Abhaas Mehta), as off the best villain seen on the TV. NK aka Nandkishore( Karan Goddwani) also made this show interesting with his terrible Hindi. No one stopped laughing as soon as this guy used to open his mouth.
The show and the concept is definitely not unique but the presentation that stands out makes me watch this show again and again.
