Juilee Kamble reviewed Piku
Delightful
Piku is a drama-comedy with a spectacular cast, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Irfan Khan and Moushumi Chatterjee. This is the story of an independent thirty-year-old woman, confronting all social norms as she stomps through life, in control and maybe a little overbearing. She shoulders responsibility for her business and her father, along with those she doesn't seem to relate to. The story engages you in a distinct father-daughter relationship where traditional roles are reversed. Piku is someone who accepts no other authority than her father's and is a splendid depiction of an accomplished woman. Her character and her relationship with her father is further explored with a trip they take to their native town. Irfan Khan adds to the mix a simple, burdened yet soft character. You only see a hint of romance between Piku and him, which is too complicated a subject for both of them. The movie brings to fore multiple aspects of each of the characters, where you see pieces of yourself and those around you very strongly. I think that's what makes this movie all the more special.

Stirring!
Highway is a complex mix of harsh reality and a dreamlike life. The story of a young kidnapped girl takes an unprecedented turn as she finds, of all things, freedom in being bound. Veera, played by Alia Bhatt is one of her best characters yet, a girl who is sexually abused in her own home. Distressed and exploited, she finds a way out through her kidnapping. Randeep Hooda, who plays her kidnapper as Mahabir, finds himself entangled in the girl he has kidnapped. She is destined to be trafficked but Mahabir finds himself protecting her after learning of her abuse. The relationship between these damaged characters develops wordlessly, only through her rawness and his ruggedness. By the time you are engaged the abrupt end to a blossoming romance pulls the rug from right underneath you. However, the end is symbolic to Veera's freedom that she found through being held captive. It's a story you cannot leave in the middle of.

Wholesome!
This has got to be one of the most wholesome shows on TV. This is a comedy show that hs you rolling on the floor but laced with feminism, equality, and love. A show with appropriate jokes, respectful characters and educated or should I say 'woke' speech, it really does not get better than this. The show revolves around cops working in a precinct in New York, a collection of adorable friendships and relationships. You find a great representation of the LGBTQ+ community as well. Jake Peralta is one of the best male leads you'll ever see, his awkward charm is enough to make you fall in love. Amy is the lovable nerd with questionable flirting skills, but the two make an unforgettable couple. Boyle adds to the mix humor and emotions, Rosa is the spice to an undeniably sweet mix. Terry is a responsible father, not only to his daughters but also the cast while Gina is an addition that you just can't get enough of. Captain Holt will steal your heart as you fall in love with his boyfriend through his eyes. This is a feel-good show with comedy and love balanced rightly, and social representation like never before.

Incredible!
This movie has got to be one of my best memories of Sunday mornings watching it on Disney Channel. This is one of those movies that no matter how many times you watched, it just never got old, not even if you knew every dialogue by heart. It's family drama mixed with adventure and comedy. They're saving the world, but more so their family and their identity. It's not always that you get to see an entire family of superheroes, especially with a baby who is the one defeating the villain. The characters are created to fit their roles precisely as they juggle between being parents, children, and siblings along with exploring and using their powers. You laugh till it hurts and you laugh some more. I may be biased to his charm but Dash is my favorite of all, that boy is as adorable as one can get. Do not miss out on appreciating Frozone, because his wife is his greater good and has hidden his suit away to save her dinner while he tries to save the world. This is one of the feel-good movies that are the perfect mix of nostalgia and laughter.

Hilariously lovable!
This has got to be my favorite movie of ALL TIME! No matter how bad a day you've had, this movie will bring you happiness in the most unexpected ways, it's the perfect rom-com. From Rapunzel's monologue, Flynn's wit and the wiggle of his eyebrows and their love story where you erupt more into laughter than 'aww', there is no way you won't be happier. It's not just any fairytale where the princess falls in love with the prince, but there is no prince here, just a convict. As the adventure progresses you find yourself tumbling with laughter then gasping in fear then being relieved and then gasping some more. The princess saves the hero, realizes her dream and finds her home, all without missing the Disney charm. Songs play out and you find yourself dancing through them. There's also animals to fall in love with, a cherry on the cake! In this movie, you fall in love with love, laughter, sarcasm, and clumsiness, added, like whipped cream, a message to follow dreams, fulfill them and go on a hunt for newer ones!

Chilling and warming, all at the same time!
I think this is a show you fall in love with from the first episode. The story begins with Sam, played by Jared Padalecki, on his six month anniversary, where his mother dies in a paranormal incident. If your heart doesn't flutter at little Sammy and four-year-old Dean, the moment Dean says, "Dad's on a hunting trip and he hasn't been home in a few days." you are hooked. Over the course of thirteen seasons, you are entwined with the boys' struggles to save the world. You cannot help but get attached to the innocent faces turning to machines dragged by fate into the apocalypse. They are sure to leave you hurting but loving them more as each epsidoe progresses. Other important chrachters that you will not want to lose are Bobby (Oh, Bobby how i miss you), Kevin, Jo and Ellen, Ash and when Castiel comes along, you aren't leaving without the entrie season is done! Come for the looks and drama if you may, you're staying till the end.
