I would've given this movie a 4.5 star rating if it had come at any other time than when xenophobia is on the rise in world. Nevertheless, it is well-made. To me it is sad reminder why immigrants are currently living in fear.

Very good
War is ugly. Its aftermath is uglier. Very few mainstream movies address the genocides committed when wars end. Very few movies in mainstream cinema ever addressed the fate of the German POWs who were mostly 15 year old boys and old men. 'Under the Sand' or 'Land of Mine' tells the story of 14 German POWs ordered to clean up live mines buried along Denmark's coastline with little training and no safety gear. This is a dark movie but not entirely without hope or forgiveness.
