      The Knock is a British television drama series, created by Anita Bronson and broadcast on ITV from 1994 to 2000, which portrayed the activities of customs officers from Her Majesty's Customs and Excise. The series derived its name from the distinctive "Knock knock knock" command used over the radio to synchronise a raid.

      Eddie Davies, a local villain, hires Tommy Maddern to help with his bootleg run from France, selling to local shops at rates they can't afford.One such shop owner, Mr. Malhorta protests, so Maddern wounds him in order to teach him a lesson.

      A mobile phone number found on Nadine Charles leads Barry and Andreotti to Rufus Teague, a known drug dealer. While Nadine is up in court, her boyfriend names Teague as a major buyer of cocaine. In court Ryan has Nadine aquitted, much to Diane's consternation

      Andreotti goes undercover in South London in order to observe Eddie davies and his son Chris. He gets chatting to one of Davies' men in their local pub and he is offered a job as a driver on a run to France. He borrows a van from City and South. On his return from France he spots a face from the past, Tommy Maddern.

      Arnie's long wait at Short's offices is finally rewarded when Lathem picks up the package from Sweden. While Katherine is held up in traffic, Arnie follows and arrests him at his home where he lives with his elderly mother.

      After a complex operation using a Swedish undercover customs officer, City and South are finally in a position to knock Short's offices. However, Katherine's enthusiasm to be in on the arrest causes her to go against Bill's orders. She arranges to meet Short beforehand to ensure that she is in the building at the time of the knock. Once Short is under arrest he makes allegations of a sexual relationship between them which seriously compromises her position.

      To Katherine's horror Jackson is forced to drop the charges against Short once the others arrested refuse to name him in connection with the pornography importation racket. Once released he starts making threatening phone calls to Katherine at work as well as at her new home. She only feels able to confide hear fears to Arnie, which sets them all gossiping.

      While the lorry containing a large quantity of Russian heroin makes its way across Europe, Arnie visits Interpol in order to look through their mugshotsof known Turkish criminals. Bill also suggests that he may be a chef - as deduced from the set of knives found in the abandoned van.

      Bill, furious at himself for having put Arnie's life at risk, orders him home as soon as he has reported to the Gendarmerie Centrale. Bill learns that the man Arnie has identified as one of the two involved in the shooting (Dulkadir), is an NCIS target.

      Barry persuades a scared and reluctant Nick to show him the house where Dafyd delivered his print-outs. The City and South team check out the food importers and find Fauld's diary full of references to Montfort including his expected time of arrival at Heathrow. They find more incriminating evidence of Montfort's involvement, and reference to the Lyon farm, at Fauld's country home. They also find traces of blood.
