Argo Review

Argo is by far one of the best films I have seen this year. Ben Affleck has proven himself to be a director who has a unique sense of storytelling such that you could almost feel the nerve gripping mortal terror of the life and death hostage situation.

Argo is the story of Tony Mendez who rescues US diplomats form Iran who are hiding in the Canadian Embassy from the Iranian revolutionaries. While no one in the CIA had a clue how that could be done, he successfully executes an exfilteration by the virtue of a fake movie "Argo", the story of a alien ship that lands on earth.

The cinematography is smart, giving the movie a retro look and hence correctly capturing the Iranian revolutionary scenario of the late seventies. The plot is so gripping and the emotions conveyed so infecting, that in the climax I was literally jumping with anxiety and excitement even though I knew the ending. Later on I even laughed with the US diplomats when they crossed the Iranian border.

Argo, hence, in my opinion, surely deserves all the Oscars it has bagged, including the best motion picture of the year.
