Who doesn't like action movies ? But over the top action & sensible action has a vast difference. Only a true movie reviewer can identify this difference. Here are 12 movies which one must watch in their lifetime.
Author's Note : No matter how many war/battle movies we make, this film will always come in top 10. Very few films carry such intense reactions as this film did. The horrifics of war on those who actually fight it which are usually neglected are captured very intensely by Director Steven Spielberg in this gut-wrenching drama which portrayed Tom Hanks in yet another milestone of his career
Author's Note : Usually war movies are meant only to show glorious action scenes, realistic action , but very few movies like this have a commanding music over the whole film. In the opening scenes , when many Russian soldiers charge a brave assault on German field machine guns & since falling back is a mortal punishment for those who will do this, the massacre in which these soldiers get trapped is captured very beautifully with its haunting soundtrack.
Author's Note : Mel Gibson is undoubtedly the most underrated actor in Hollywood. He is one of those very few actors who actually put more than their 100% in whatever roles they are asked to do. Inspite of knowing of the fact, that American soldiers are outnumbered during Vietnam war, the way in which Mel Gibson stoods up to put a last stand, one can very much relate to the original battlefield scenario. Everyone glorifies soldiers for their valour, but very few understand the difficulties in which they achieve such feats at an price which cannot be accounted for.
Author's Note : Ridley Scott is not only known for his grandeur films, but for also the way in which he never fails to capture emotions. A superpower nation's soldiers thinking it is just like another mission make an assault on an African nation. But, when situation becomes extreme grim, even battle hardened soldiers break. A must watch for the intense action.
Author's Note : It is almost an irony that till date, hardly any film is made on American War of Independence except The Patriot. Many would think Braveheart is Mel Gibson's lifetime performance but this film showed the depth of Mel Gibson's acting prowess. This film beautifully captures transformation of peasants to first soldiers of United States of America.
Author's Note : Baahubali is the only film till date from India which forced world film fraternity to take notice of an Indian action film. Inspiring dialogues, mesmerising cinematography, Very realistic action scenes makes this a must watch for battle movie lovers.
Author's Note : This film again brings Mel Gibson in focus, only this time he's in a different role that of a Director. To win battle on battlefield, you have to pick weapon, but here Sergeant Doss picks injured soldiers helping American army to win a few battles in Second world war. Can't believe this scenario, then you must watch this film to believe.
Author's Note : This franchisee has gone down as the greatest ever films depicting a battle, till Red Cliff was released. The emotions, gripping storyline, huge number of characters, action scenes was something from outside of this world. The battle scenes were such a class apart that even it's director Peter Jackson wasn't able to replicate those scenes in this franchisee's prequel. A must have collection for all.
Author's Note : Red Cliff 1 & Red Cliff 2 (In some parts it was released combinedly due to it's length has gone down as one of the greatest films ever made on a real battle. This film was perhaps the first ever film which showed that with a good storyline, brilliant performances, marvellous cinematography battle movies can also be made outside of Hollywood. A must watch for the strategies implemented in order to stop an invasion & eventually to win a war.
Author's Note : Till Red Cliff, Kingdom of Heaven was the finest film ever made depicting a battle. Even today, the battle scenes shown in this movie are nonetheless the most intense yet thought provoking ones. Perhaps the most topmost moment in this film has to be of when Saladdin doesn't steps on the grave of a English king or when he keeps Christian cross again in its place.
Author's Note : It isn't a surprise that almost 3 films of Ridley Scott have made this list. The opening battle scenes have gone down as one of the most finest battle scenes ever depicted in a movie. This film is so great that many forget to applaud the opening scenes.
Author's Note : War movies are always a gamble. If depicted properly, they are a gem or they are nothing like just any other war movie. Before this film, naval battles were only limited to The pirates of the Carribbean franchise. Perhaps not much attention was paid to the sincerity of battles fought on sea. Maybe it was due to lack of innovation which one faces while portraying naval battles. This film proved all this conceptions wrong. 13 ships against 300 huge ships preventing enemy kingdom from attacking their nation not only makes a catchy storyline but also has some interesting subplots. Gripping storyline, excellent performances, finest cinematography & as a treat to all the film watchers a dose of about 75 minutes of hard naval battle which is portrayed very beautifully in this film makes this a must watch & definitely receives a great applause to all the team included in making this film an magnum opus which automatically tops our list. If you are not convinced about it's top position in this list, then you surely ha
