The show's plotline centers around the surreal and imaginative exploits of its title character, Douglas "Doug" Funnie, who experiences common predicaments while attending school in his new hometown of Bluffington, Virginia. The series lampoons several topics, including puppy love, bullying, and rumors. Numerous episodes center around Doug's attempts to date his classmate Patti Mayonnaise. Doug originally aired on Nickelodeon in the United States of America. It, along with Rugrats and The Ren & Stimpy Show, comprised the original three Nicktoons, premiering simultaneously on August 11, 1991 and ending on January 2, 1994. Following the acquisition of the former Jumbo Pictures by Disney in 1996, the series aired on ABC as part of the former Disney's One Saturday Morning programming block. 11 Aug '91In the series premiere, we find the Funnie family have moved from Bloatsburg and are just arriving at their new home in the town of Bluffington. 11 year old Doug Funnie writes his thoughts in his journal and worries he won't be able to make any friends. On a search to find food for his Mom (Theda), Dad (Phil) and sister (Judy), Doug meets his next door neighbour Mr. Dink. He shows Doug a video about Bluffington and introduces him to the popular hangout fast food restaurant called The Honker

Doug wants to go to the concert, but sticks with his best friend. On the night of the concert, the two of them head off to the Honker Burger and get the surprise of their life.
