The show was the first hour-long western, and in fact the first hour-long dramatic series of any kind, with continuing characters, to last more than one season. It was also the first series to be made by a major Hollywood film studio which did not derive from its established film properties, and the first of a long chain of Warner Brothers original series produced by William T. Orr.

This 'summit meeting' provides an exciting episode for young fans knowing that the bad guys didn't have a chance. But one gets framed for murder, jailed and broken out; another is working undercover to infiltrate the bad guys, is almost taken prisoner, gets away, and all the while Cheyenne has to hold it all together as the three fight the local law, Crazy Horse and the bad guys.
